We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Control Expert, Ops Delivery - INTERNAL CONTROL.

Principal responsibilities

Impact on the Business/Function

·  Support the implementation of the target operating model/ strategic plans for the CCO Global Operations, DCOO and Procurement.
·  Drive the design and implementation of the CCO people strategy and career development framework.
·  Drive and execute a communications strategy for the CCO Global Operations, DCOO and Procurement sub-function to ensure that its members are motivated, well informed and aligned to Global and regional initiatives.
·  Partner with Risk Stewards , DBS Governance teams and wider CCO teams and supported Risk and Control owners to develop and implement proper ERM framework and policies.
·  Coordinate and provide support for cross Business Service/Regional Reviews and Read Acrosses.
·  Drive effective design, analysis and remediation of operational controls by analysing root causes of incidents, identifying thematic and systemic issues.
·  Coordinate Governance processes for reporting to key stakeholders meetings.
·  Customers / Stakeholders.

Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across CCO, supported functions and 2LOD and leverage these relationships to:

·  Enable the CCO Operations, DCOO and Procurement to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders and fulfil its commitments.
·  Ensure all customers and stakeholders receive an appropriate level of service by understanding and reacting to feedback.
·  Develop and agree an agenda for CCO Operations, DCOO and Procurement that balances the priorities across all stakeholder groups at a country, regional and global level.
·  Ensure that controls advice and guidance from CCO is welcomed and acted upon by stakeholders.
·  Ensure control remediation activities are robust, complete and sustainable.
·  Provide effective and insightful challenge.
·  Ensure adherence to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, internal  policies and regulations.

Leadership & Teamwork 

·  Co-ordinate different aspects of CCO Operations function, towards the common goal of managing Operations Risk efficiently and effectively.
·  Act as a role model to create and maintain a collaborative team environment which supports and encourages the professionalization and development of the Function.
·  Co-ordinate communication across CCO Operations, DCOO and Procurement to all key stakeholders.
·  Work effectively as part of a global, multi-skilled team with a range of expertise and experience. Leverage your experience to help others and be open to others helping you.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

·  Drive the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver agreed plans and targets, collaborating with colleagues to maximise end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.
·  Support the Senior Management team to establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across CCO Operations, DCOO and PRocurement to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
·  Engage with stakeholders to raise awareness and understanding of key risks, controls and remediation activity.
·  Working with all lines of defence to influence the definition of group policies and control standards.
·  Ensuring the control framework enforces policy standards.

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

·  Continually assess the risks related to our supported DBS functions, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, organization change and the impact of new technology.
·  Consistently display positive leadership behaviours related to the management and mitigation of risk, including notification and escalation of any concerns and ensuring timely action in relation to points raised by audit and external regulators.
·  Continually support HSBC's approach to conduct, which is designed to ensure we deliver fair outcomes for our customers and do not disrupt the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets. 
·  Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
·  Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements).
·  Ensure that HSBC internal control standards are met, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Local Job Requirements (This could include; Job Dimensions, Job Context & Major Challenges)

This role is a part of the global CCO Operations, DCOO and Procurement team executing an agenda that is composed of a blend of global, regional and country priorities. The remit will include driving and coordinating the delivery of priorities across the global footprint of CCO Operations. The role will also support the Center Director and Entity CCO in GSC China for some of the risk agenda items at Entity level which varies from Governance deck preparation to risk reviews and other ad-hoc matters.

Requirements

Knowledge

·  Clear understanding of operational risk and how it is managed.
·  Knowledge of large scale business processes (within banking or other industries) and the risks inherent in these processes.

·  Able to drive and successfully deliver multiple, wide-ranging priorities, often under stringent time pressures in a dynamic environment.
·  Able to influence others; able to build and led build transient informal teams to solve specific issues.

  Desired Requirements

  Knowledge

·  Detailed understanding of broad operation activity and the regulatory environment in which DBS functions have to operate.
·  Controls associated with Financial Accounting, Balance Sheet Substantiation, SOX Requirements.
·  Knowledge of retail banking, commercial banking and investment banking products and services.
·  Understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk polices.
·  Knowledge of best practice in risk management.

  Experience

·  Operating effectively in a complex, global organization
·  Experience of managing operational risk
·  Experience of designing and implementing process controls

  Capabilities

·  Process design and/or process reengineering skills.
·  Expertise in risk and control reporting – especially in defining and measuring leading risk indicators.

 

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
