HSBC have an operations hub in Kuala Lumpur & Bangalore within the Global Service Centre. positions lie within the Cross-Asset Confirmation/Settlement/Investigation Service in Market Securities Services Operations. The roles would be involving BAU process handling of all settlements and investigation activities for cross-asset derivative product across Hong Kong and European balance sheets

The Opportunity:

The role holder performs settlements and investigation activities for cross-asset derivative product like Equity derivatives (SED and Prime Finance). Staff will have to work with counter parties, or other group employees

Individual needs to have eye for detail, drive, passion for such work, and be a self-starter. Excellent spoken and written English is critical for success in this role. Meeting customer service delivery within agreed operating guidelines and the respective currency payment cut-off time and due diligence requirements are also a core aspect of this role.

What you’ll do:  

·  Affirming cashflows with counterparties and performing all pre-settlement checks (SSI’s, booking, etc), and settling cashflows accurately.
·  Post Settlement/Investigations is to investigate breaks/exceptions
·  Work includes identifying causes of breaks and taking necessary steps to resolve them.
·  Ensure that risk & control framework and escalation procedures are adhered to.
·  Ensure end of day checks are actioned
·  Implement process efficiencies to improve service quality
·  Build strong Business and Operations Management relationships
·  Assist management in achieving overall business objectives.
·  Work in collaboration with the team to resolve issues
·  Achieve set performance benchmark and target for each year
·  Continuous increase of process knowledge through cross training
·  Engage with onshore business partners in communicating issues and/or escalations
·  Liaise with external clients in order to resolve issues and/or answer queries

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

·  University degree is required
·  Experience in Derivative settlements and Investigations would be highly advantageous
·  Possess knowledge on MS Office with good numerical and analytical skills. 
·  Ability to maintain focus while working with voluminous data
·  Ability to work in a virtual team environment with ability to support multiple functions and stakeholders
·  Attention to detail and a hands on approach to identify opportunities of process improvement
·  Strong awareness and appreciation to operations risk and control and exception management.
·  Ability to implement initiatives and work as part of a team
·  Follow formal escalation framework across all aspects of Operations, including day to day operational risks
·  and systemic risks
·  Strong communication skills with the ability to manage local and international relationships across the org.

What additional skills will be good to have?

·  A degree in Business or Finance would be preferred
·  A firm understanding, supported by accreditation of LEAN and 6 Sigma methodologies.
·  Familiar working knowledge of associated technology such as DTP, Sophis, Summit, Murex, TLM, GPS, Swift messaging, GMG
·  Understanding of Markets Operations is an added advantage
·  Able to work in a demanding and time sensitive environment
·  Hands on experience of operations processing is an advantage
