Role Summary/Purpose

The internship is a 12-month placement that aims to provide students with real finance work experience related to their degree. The available role will be based in Madrid and the working hours are 8 a day.
Essential Responsibilities

The finance function plays an important role in supporting the business, and the finance interns will have the opportunity to work within one of our Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllership, Operations and/or Commercial teams. Depending on the business, you will have the opportunity to gain hands on finance experience, with responsibility in a range of areas including some of the following tasks:

·  Operational & Financial Performance Reporting – liaising within the immediate team and across other business functions to compare performance to latest expectations, highlighting key drivers

·  Providing a high level of customer service to operations, commercial and finance management including interaction with other GE businesses, functions and internal or external auditors

·  Preparing and updating receivable data for currency hedging forecasts

·  Supporting quarterly selected account reconciliations

·  Supporting monthly and quarterly closing activities

·  General adhoc queries and projects to assist finance managers

·  Identifying areas for simplification and alignment, working with manager to find solutions

Through the internship, the individual will gain a valuable insight into the operation of a successful business, having responsibility in a range of areas. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will provide an excellent start into a career in finance based areas.

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Graduates in economics or business administration willing to start in 2018 a MBA are preferred, but all degree subjects will be considered providing the candidate is able to demonstrate a genuine interest in finance

·  Strong analytical, problem solving and inter-personal skills are essential

·  Candidates should be able to use their own initiative and work as part of a team

·  Fluency in both English and Spanish, with good written and oral presentation skills

·  Flexibility and autonomy to prioritise assignments and meet strict deadlines is crucial

·  Background in accountancy (by practice and/or by studies) is preferred

·  Possession of the necessary work/residency permits for working in the European Union

·  EU Work Permit

If contracted in Spain:

Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.
