Siemens Digital IndustriesSoftware is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation andmanufacture of products across many different industries. White goods, motorvehicles, airplanes, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the productswe see in our daily lives are being conceived, designed, and manufactured usingour Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.

The customer experience team isa multi-disciplinary team formed of Product Designers and User Researchers.

What we’re looking for

Are you a recent graduate orpostgraduate looking to start your career as a product designer with a focus onenterprise software applications. Are you ready to help change the perceptionthat enterprise applications are not user friendly, complicated to learn andhard to master?

Your degree should contain ahigh level of product design content, and you should have an exceptionalinterest in looking beyond what people say and explore what they actually do.
We are looking for a naturally curious person, who goes above and beyond torepresent the needs of our users in our solutions. This role offers a fantasticopportunity for you to develop the skills for a career as a product designer andprovides you the chance to work directly with a committed team on high impactprojects in an exciting and varied environment.

What you’ll be doing

During this 12-month internshipyou will work in small, agile teams tasked with the design and definition of ourflagship CAD software. Whilst you will closely work alongside User Researchersand with development staff, your work will solely focus on the product design process.  You will be reporting to the Product Design lead.

What you’ll bring

  •  ABSc/MSc/PhD in Product Design or similar.
  •  Understandingof how users use complex software, and a passion for understanding people, userneeds and their behaviours.
  •  Strongcommunication and presentation skills that allow you to present designs, invarious stages of completion to stakeholders in an understandable, simplifiedand concise way both visually and verbally.
  •  Anunderstanding of a variety of design methodologies.
  •  An interestin Software design.

A knowledge of any of thefollowing would be desirable:

  • Agile softwaredevelopment
  • 3D CADsystems
  • Designthinking approaches

Other important information:

  • 12-month internship with clearly defined milestones tobuild your but also get you familiar with our CAD software and the wider CADindustry. You will also be closely working with and supported by experiencedproduct designers.
  • You willreceive a salary, and all the benefits of any full time Siemens employee.
  • Ideallylooking for a candidate who is available from early June.
  • This job isprimarily remote (applicant must be located in the UK), but will include sometravel (e.g. roughly every 6 weeks a two-day meet up - travel and accommodationwill be paid by the company (unless you are locally based)).
  • You will beprovided with all the technical set up required to successfully accomplish yourjob.
