Your Role:

·  For us safety is everything. This Process Safety Engineer will work in Performance Materials Process Development under the direction of the Head of Safety Engineering. This position will provide process safety technical support to engineering and operations in the Asia region for the Performance Materials sector of our company. In this position you will be working on our safety processes and safety culture, this requires mastery of key safety activities and best practices.
·  Key activities will include leading and documenting hazard reviews, performing key reviews of proposed changes, risk identification and quantification, risk portfolio analysis, and incident investigation.  To drive continuous safety performance improvement, you will be tasked with implementing the company’s process safety programs, initiatives and global standards.
·  To do this effectively you must be able to work effectively with  technical and operating teams, identify and prioritize risks, and communicating such risks  while guiding the teams  in implementing robust safety practices. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of company process safety engineering policies, tools, programs and deployment. 
·  The person in this role will be expected to have some travel within the Asia region to perform these process safety activities and will be a strong ambassador for our safety culture.
·  Other tasks assigned by your superior.

 

Who You Are?

·  BS or higher in chemical engineering (preferred) or other engineering discipline.
·  At least 8 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing and/or engineering organization. Some experience in the process safety function is preferred.
·  Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English.
·  Good presentation and communication skills.
·  Ability to speak-up  when practices not deemed safe is observed
·  Familiarity with  reviewing  P&IDs, and an understanding of Automatic Control  and Process Design concepts.
·  Experience with various hazard review methodologies (including HAZOP).
·  Experience in hazard review facilitation and leadership for both operating plants and engineering designs.
·  Experience in participating in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
·  Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
·  Knowledge of the elements of process safety management.
·  Familiarity with regional (Asia) process safety regulatory compliance requirements.
·  Familiarity with regional or global industry organization standards and guidelines such as AIGA, and CGA
·  Experience in implementation of practical risk control measures to acquired facilities.
·  Experience with the use of qualitative and quantitative risk analysis tools such as fault tree, layer of protection analysis, and dispersion modeling software such as PHAST to engineering designs.
·  Ability to communicate with colleagues remotely, including teleconferences during off-hours.
·  Develop a comprehensive understanding of the plant’s process hazards and corresponding safeguards
·  Provide technical review of operating procedures to ensure that safety considerations are comprehensive
·  Develop and deliver safety technical training for operators, maintenance technicians, management staff, and engineers
·  Conduct site safety audits and inspections; drive action items to close gaps
·  Serve as custodian for the plant’s PSI (Process Safety Information)
·  Solicit and implement safety best practices from sister facilities
