JOB PURPOSE

The Quality Management Process is a foundation of our Business Process and codifies our approach to quality management and continuous improvement. The QMP and Standardization Specialist responsible for developing and operating the Quality Management System for the MGS Laboratory CoE. The role will drive the standardization of internal quality and safety procedures to ensure work consistency in practices for our associates within our internal Q&FS laboratories.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

MGS Centre of Expertise Quality Management System
• Develop and deploy the MGS Labs CoE Quality Management system, to ensure conformance to the Mars Quality Policy and Quality Management Process
• Operate, maintain and continuously improve the quality system in line with changing needs
• Define and own the MGS Labs CoE Internal audit program and report compliance
• Provide pareto analysis of audit findings to drive focused gap closure programs on underlying quality issues within the network.
• Govern and report on CoE CAPAs from audit and drive a culture of CAPA process compliance.
• Co-ordinate the management review for the MGS Laboratories Leadership team
• Co-ordinate external (2nd or 3rd Party) audit of the MGS CoE function
• Maintain an expert knowledge of Mars Corporate, Segment and relevant external Quality Management Processes and standards, and keeps abreast of external development in the field through literature review and conference/international meeting attendance.
• Build links with key stakeholder groups: Corporate and Segment Quality Teams and regional laboratory community.

Laboratory QMP Standardization
• To be the technical content owner for the Mars Laboratory Standard Chapter 4, responsible to for its content and continuous improvement.
• Lead projects across CoE and regional laboratory experts to develop mandatory processes to drive competency and the standardization of quality management processes within the regional laboratory network.
• Develop and deploy training materials to support the implementation of new processes and tools to the regional laboratory quality network to strengthen competency and ensure standardized and effective change management.
• Execute other project work in support of Laboratory Governance initiatives.
• Support the development of the training database for all Q&FS lab associates.
• Deliver Laboratory Quality trainings for clients and lab associates training programs (SQA lab audit/ Lab Governance Training)

Laboratory Safety standardization
• Collaborate with the Lab Efficiency and HSE Specialist to identify laboratory HSE risk areas and opportunities to define the standardization priorities.
• With HSE, develops MGS Laboratory HSE mandatory standardization process and documentation for internal MGS and site labs through the definition of minimum requirements, standards, processes and practices
• Develop and deploy training materials to support the implementation of new processes and tools to the regional laboratory quality network to strengthen competency and ensure standardized and effective change management.
• Develop and support the deployment of a laboratory safety training database
• Develop and support the deployment of a suite of Q&FS laboratory safety metrics

CONTEXT & SCOPE

The Mars Leadership Team have approved a 5 year strategic investment to strengthen Mars internal and external capability through the creation of a Mars Quality & Food Safety Laboratory Network, to establish critical operational capability for Mars Incorporated.
Reporting to the the Laboratory Governance Program Lead, the QMP and Safety standardization Specialist will be responsible for developing, operating and continuously improving the Quality Management System for the newly created MGS Laboratory CoE. The role requires advanced experience in designing, implementing and operating Quality Management System and mandatory standards. The job holder will use their expert knowledge to drive quality standardization and governance of the laboratory network, working in partnership with CoE and regional laboratory experts to define priority initiatives and drive a program of gap closure to help assure trusted data within our network.
The jobholder will also be responsible for the creation of a new centralized Q&FS laboratory safety standard and reporting processes. This will involve working collaboratively with SES, the Efficiency and HSE Specialist within the Regional Lab Network team of the COE, and the regional laboratory teams to identify needs and drive the program.

The role holder will need strong motivational skills to drive the implementation of new process and tools into both the CoE and the regional network. As such, the role requires a high level of leadership and managing vision and purpose to inspire engagement and create alignment across a globally dispersed multicultural organization.

Up to 15% global travel including a number of multi-week trips per year with occasional weekends away from home.

1. Education & Professional Qualification

Essential: Degree level qualification
Desired: Lead Auditor trained
Desired: A recognized safety certification for risk assessment and management

2. Knowledge/Experience

Essential: Experience in developing, deploying or implementing effective quality management systems.
Essential: Experience in leading global or regional standardization projects including remote project management work
Desired: Experience of deploying or implementing laboratory quality systems (ISO17025/ISO15189 or internal)
Desired: Experience of implementing or managing laboratory safety procedures and standards
