Essential Responsibilities
TÍTULO DE PROYECTO: Power System Stabilizer - study of a site network in order to furnish optimum settings of PSS block function in generators.
The role of the Power Stabilizer System is to take information about rotor oscillations in order to damp them. Rotor oscillations result in changes in the kinetic energy which cause the total angle (internal angle + Mains angle) to vary. The signal worked out by the PSS opposes this change in the total angle in order to stabilize electrical power transfer. The aim of this optional system is to smooth rotor oscillations by elaborating a signal which acts against the angle variation (= load angle + grid angle). This fluctuation is the difference between active power and its average value. The set point correcting signal is thus such as: DV = G(PE - PAV) with PAV = average power. The correcting term limits at +/-5% of VAn. The signal (PE - PAV) is produced by the transfer function. Activation is done instantly at an adjustable value of electric power (default = 0.15*Sn) and disable at low power (0.1*Sn). The PSS is disabled after an adjustable timing when the electric power falls below an adjustable limit or instantaneously when the unit is disconnected from the grid or with an external logic order PSS_OFF.
Main project duties:
· Take information from PSS study about rotor oscillations in order to damp them
· Analysis of different IEEE & IEC standard transfer functions
· Optimize settings of PSS block function
· Study report of computer models for PSS and AVR models
· Define commissioning procedure in order to verify performance of PSS
