DESCRIPTION

VISUAL SEARCH AND AUGMENTED REALITY
Based in Palo Alto, our team is responsible for the customer solutions for Augmented Reality and camera-based product search. We use advanced technologies to dramatically improve the experience for Amazon customers. We tackle complex problems in computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, and large-scale distributed systems.
The Visual Search team is seeking a talented, energetic and self-driven Data Engineer responsible for building and maintaining end to end analytics solutions that drive business decisions and develop systems that provide actionable recommendations from mountain-piles of data making use of latest big data technologies. Leveraging information from the world’s largest eCommerce data warehouse, you will enable our business leaders to leverage catalog, inventory, transaction, clickstream and marketing data to identify opportunities, support product development and optimize business decision-making, ultimately resulting in great experiences for customers.
AS Data Engineer

· As a data engineer you should be well versed in all aspects of product, understand the problems and tie them back to data.
· Own and drive the design, development and implementation of our data pipelines and analytics platform to provide stakeholders with structured access to data.
· Build, scale and maintain large scale data pipelines to process log entries daily into our data warehouse solutions on AWS.
· Software Engineering mindset and ability to write elegant scalable and maintainable code by following engineering best practices.
· Help our product, design and engineering teams to make data driven decisions by defining metrics and finding actionable insights from our data.
· Promote best practices and mentor other BI analysts
· Champion proper adoption of self-service analytic tools and reporting environments
· Write and tune complex queries using SQL/Spark
· Troubleshoot data issues and build customized reports to investigate key business questions
· Write, share and present documents summarizing your findings and recommendations effectively, to all levels of the organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·· Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or related field.· Experience in Datawarehouse Space and Dimensional Modelling for large scale complex data systems.
· Experience with probabilistic systems.
· Passionate about scalable and future-proof processes, systems and data analytics.
· Experience with statistics or Machine Learning methodologies a plus.
· Experience using PySpark for batch Processing.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
·· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or the equivalent· 5+ years of experience in building data pipelines for ETL.
· 5+ years of professional experience in web analytics, business analysis or comparable analytics position.
· 5+ years of relational database and SQL skills in Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Redshift or another database platform.
· 5+ years of in any programming languages like Python or Java
· 5+ years experience working with either a MapReduce or an MPP system.
· Experience working with very large, disparate data sets, including log files, SQL, Hadoop and OLAP data warehouses
· Strong leadership, vision and passion to build and drive a Business Intelligence team to create changes in business partnerships, analytics, and metrics/reporting
· Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Strong problem solving, math, statistics and quantitative reasoning skills.
· Highly organized and able to prioritize and work to tight deadlines.
· Able to build positive business relationships and work collaboratively across organizational boundaries. Able to coach and lead others effectively.
