Description of the job

A vacancy for a Test Flight Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Sevilla.
The successful applicant will join Engineering Department .
The responsibilities of the Test Flight Engineer are related to the control over the aircraft status before, during and after the flight.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
TFE is in charge of assessing the technical status of the aircraft and accepting the aircraft in the handover from FAL to TAEV.
On ground, theTFE is in charge of the technical follow-up of development aircraft and of the establishment of the aircraft status (aircraft particularities) to be inserted in the Flight Order for crew information (as per Military Aircraft Procedures AP5070 complemented by DPA-AP5070 (Permit to Fly for Development Aircraft).).
The TFE ensures, under the Captain's responsibility, the proper aircraft configuration for the intended flight test by:
• Performing the before departure checks and verifications (walk-around, cockpit safety inspection...),
• Accepting the aircraft technically (checking and signing the technical aircraft log book on behalf of the Captain), assessing the representatively of the aircraft for the intended test in support to the Flight Test Engineer,
• Calculating weight and balance and take-off data (in absence of FTE),
• Writing the Flight Order, which is signed by himself (in absence of a FTE) and the Captain,
• On request, or in absence of the FTE, conduct the flight,
• Monitoring and, if required, correcting the aircraft's status or configuration during test,
• Actively participating in the test execution (system operation and/or verification),
• Recording parameters during the flight and monitoring flight test recorders and flight test installation (in close cooperation with FTE if any),
• Filling in the technical log book (reporting the anomalies encountered in flight and requesting the modifications required for the next flight),
• Writing up the Flight Crew Report in cooperation with FTE or in absence of FTE,
• On captain's request, when it is not feasible to carry the flight line team on-board (ex: in case of unexpected diversions to an external airfield or in case of a stop in the middle of test flights not compatible with passenger transportation), the TFE is entitled to perform aircraft transit, before and after flight checks,
• Monitoring the test execution and the proper configuration using the on-board FTI (in absence of FTE),
• Following up the progress of the flight test program (in absence of FTE).

Act as Load Master as requested.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
• Educated to degree level in Engineering
• Experience as Military Flight Engineer with at least 8 year of experience, Military experience with more that 2.000 flight hours and A400M experience is highly desirable.
• Flight Test Experience is highly desirable
• English advanced
• Spanish will be valuable
