Location: Ottobrunn (near Munich)

Start: 1.4.2021

Duration:  6 months

You will be working in the business division “Airbus Optical Instruments”.

As Europe's largest manufacturer of Optical Instruments for space applications, our portfolio covers all types of optical instruments, e.g. imaging spectrometers, meteorological sounders, LIDARs, high resolution cameras, and optical communication terminals. In our technology development team, we prepare the next generation of optical payloads in Space. For these activities, we are looking for a master student to address dedicated challenges of quantum technologies for space applications.

Tasks

·  Setup of thermomechanical analyses and optical performance evaluation for optical system
·  Evaluation of technologies for space optical instruments
·  Implementation of simple mathematical models (e.g. Python/Matlab)
·  Planning, setup and optimization of optical experiments, measurements and tests
·  Data analysis and evaluation of test results as well as their interpretation
·  Literature research, writing of documentation

The following professional skills and assets are relevant for this Intership position

·  You are enrolled full time student within Physics, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar field of study
·  You are enthusiastic for new technologies,
·  Software skills (Python, Matlab, Labview) and technical skills
·  You have hands-on experience in the lab with optical elements and lab equipment is an asset
·  You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
·  Your English is fluent and you can speak German
