Job Title: Unilever Future Leader’s Programme – United Kingdom & Ireland

Function: UniOps

Unilever is one of the largest fast-moving consumer goods companies in the world. We make some of the world’s most loved brands: Dove, Lynx, PG Tips, Ben & Jerrys, Marmite, Magnum, Persil and Hellmann’s, to name a few. We believe that being ambitious in business goes hand in hand with being ambitious for humanity and the environment. Business has a fundamental role to play in the future of the planet. Technology is key to this. It is now deeply integrated into our lives – employees and consumers alike – and as a result it’s at the heart of everything we do at Unilever, opening new possibilities and propelling us into the future.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be joining the UniOps function. UniOps touches every area of the business providing internal core services and enabling Unilever to respond to the big technological challenges all businesses face these days; for example, the buying trends of millennials or the need to be agile in a fast-changing world. Some of our current future leaders’ placements have included Sustainable Business & IT, Customer Development (Sales) and Information & Analytics. We aim to provide experiences which deliver the technical expertise and the cross functional knowledge to develop well-rounded leaders to enable Unilever to win in the marketplace.

Our purpose is to transform the way we make a difference to the lives of our people worldwide, and to power a consumer centric, future-ready, and data intelligent business through disruption, digital innovation and agile acceleration. You could be working with our technology partners like Microsoft, Amazon and SAP, driving the delivery of a Global Programme or working with niche technology start-ups and industry innovators to solve business and sustainability challenges.

What do we look for?

We’re proud to offer a dual-stream programme allowing future leaders to develop deep technical expertise and cross functional management skills.

Technology stream: In this stream we look to develop a genuine passion for business, brands and technology as well as being excited by digital developments. Amongst others, we will provide experiences in cyber security, cloud computing, data science and analytics and implementing new technology developments at a global scale.

Cross-functional stream: In this stream we look to develop future leaders who are able to think about the experiences we provide our employees, our consumers, our customers and the businesses we work with on a day to day basis. Amongst others, we will provide experiences anywhere between our customer development teams and employee experience, covering everything from the physical workplace and technologies used within it, to support services we offer our employees to make their day to day lives simpler.

Out of function element: To ensure that we are offering breadth of experience and to give deep understanding of the value that UniOps provides to the business, we unlock a placement out of function, at the heart of the business, right on the front line of what we do for our customers / consumers.

Diversity at Unilever is about inclusion, embracing differences, creating possibilities and growing together for better business performance. We embrace diversity in our workforce. This means giving full and fair consideration to all applicants and continuing development of all employees regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, and pregnancy and maternity.

What will the scheme involve?

This three-year world-class development scheme is packed with variety and challenge designed to lead you through to your first managerial position. You will complete four different placements and an out of function experience.

First-hand experience is the fastest way to learn and you will have real responsibility afforded to you from day one. The 4 core placements last six months, through hands-on learning alongside world-class experts, you’ll develop your leadership skills by working on live projects that offer you all the experience you need to become ready for your first management role. You will be required to work in different locations across the UK during the scheme.

The final twelve months of the scheme will be personalised for every individual. A twelve-month placement creates opportunity to develop specialist skills as well as expand and strengthen network.

The Unilever culture is varied, friendly and encourages team spirit and collaboration. We will push and support you to achieve your potential, whilst giving you the chance to shape your career path according to your own interests, strengths and ambitions.

Location :

Placements may be in different business units across the UK & Ireland, so you need to be flexible about where you are based during the programme.

Closing date:

We will close for applications as soon as we receive enough applications for the business area and without prior warning. We therefore advise you to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Travel Required: 10-25%
