Poste et missions:

We are looking for junior scientists interested in getting experience in drug discovery and development for preclinical research at UCB. The selected candidates for this position (Associate Scientist level) will actively participate to the identification of new targets and the development of therapeutics to treat neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson, Alzheimer's) and epilepsy. The main role of this position is to supervise immunohistochemistry and image analysis studies to characterize in vivo models and assess compound efficacy. Other activities include development of in vitro assays, validation of targets using biochemistry assays and molecular biology tools in cell lines and mouse primary neurons. The candidates will develop knowledge in Neurosciences, microscopy, histology, but also in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology using advanced technologies through various projects in the industry environment.

Profil:

We are looking candidates with the following background:
• M.S. to Ph.D in cell biology, biochemistry or related discipline. Background in Neuroscience is required.
• Expertise in immunohistochemistry (fluorescent or colorimetric), histology, is required for the position.
• Expertise in microscopy technology, widefield or confocal, is an advantage.
• Strong computer (PC) skills, use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and image analysis software, is an advantage.
• Experience in cell culture, biochemistry, immunocytochemistry, western blotting, ELISA, is an advantage.
• Experience in cell-based assay design, development and validation, is an advantage.
• Ability to accurately analyze and interpret data, presenting summary information in a clear and concise format.
• The qualified candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent problem solving and organizational skills, with proven ability to work under demanding timelines.
• The candidate should show ability to work flexibly and independently, and use new techniques as required by the role and project.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Must be team-oriented, pro-active and have a positive mind set.
