Job description

Position Overview

Test Automation Engineer is primarily responsible for developing automated test infrastructure and tests for validating Fire Safety and Mass Notification products/systems, based on functional and non-functional requirements. They work with computer hardware and software systems, requiring software engineering and programming skills while utilizing proven knowledge of integration and system testing for using tools and designing/writing programs for continuously automated testing of such systems. This includes developing test automation standards and guidelines for infrastructure tools and tested products, as well as, provide feedback/direction to overall test plans for development projects.
Responsibilities

Build strategies for testing specific products. Specify and setup test environments. Design and write test automation scripts. Utilize test automation frameworks and tools. Investigate problems in software based on test results. Work with architects and software developers to find solutions. Improve testing processes and techniques for projects and products. Use of test data to determine if there are issues that need to be addressed prior to end-user access. Review program code to identify issues in software or applications. Collaborate with other staff teams to discuss test results and develop solutions to the issues identified. Prepare reports outlining their testing methods and results. Pro-actively analyze current processes and practices and suggest/drive improvements, including in the areas of test coverage, execution and automation, and product testability. Define processes where needed. Evaluate test tools.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
·  Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
·  Knowledge of the levels of testing and how to apply them
·  Mathematical aptitude and strong problem-solving and analytical skills
·  Excellent organizational and time leadership skills
·  Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
·  Collaboration skills
·  Constant learner who keeps up with constantly evolving trends
·  Ability to build detailed acceptance criteria that represents the customers’ needs and quality attributes
·  Be the testing SME on the development team for both manual and automated tests
·  Ability to communicate with product owners, developers, and partners
·  Experience with programming in languages, such as Python, C++, Java
·  Experience with test automation frameworks, such as Robot
·  Proven experience with Fire Safety systems or similar computer-based products preferred
