Job Description

Siemens Process Safety Consulting, a unit of Siemens Energy, Inc., located in Houston, Texas, USA, has an immediate opening for a mid-level Software QA Test Engineer in support of its commercial software product portfolio. The qualified candidate will be a key contributor in the testing of complex engineering software built on the Microsoft.NET framework. The successful candidate should possess a mix of manual and automated testing experience with .Net Windows applications and .NET web applications, as well as a demonstrated ability to create detailed test specifications, test strategy and test plans. Candidate will develop and conduct functional and non-functional tests by working with business stakeholders, development teams and the project manager.

Your new role – challenging and future – oriented :

·  Participate in technical discussions and review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback to product and software development teams
·  Provide QA testing estimates based on the requirements
·  Create and maintain detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test strategy/test plans and reports
·  Develop test cases and test acceptance criteria; develop test data necessary to execute test cases as well as execute test cases
·  Define and report on meaningful test metrics to support decision making by the project manager and software development manager; thoroughly identify, record and track defects
·  Participate in the ongoing development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs (continuous improvement)
·  Work on software testing activities to meet defined schedules and focus on continuous quality improvement
·  Establish and maintain criteria for identifying good test case candidates for automation (repetitive tests, regression tests, performance/stress tests, data-driven tests, etc.)
·  Identify and track meaningful quality assurance (and development) performance metrics such as covered requirements, recycle/root cause, and open defects
·  Stay up-to-date with new testing tools, strategies and best practices
·  Interface with key customers, R&D, Software Support, Project Management and Product Management with regard to quality assurance process and quality related issues.
·  Follow software test procedural directions per Siemens PLM process and contribute to test planning activities
·  Collaborate with other team members and train them as needed
·  Other work-related duties as assigned

Your Qualifications – Solid and Appropriate :

·  3-5 years of experience of QA in fast paced software development environments
·  BS in engineering, computer science, information systems or other related science degree or commensurate relevant work experience
·  Experience testing in a Microsoft .NET environment including Windows Applications, WinForms, WPF, ASP.NET, C# and VB.NET
·  Expertise of ad hoc database queries using SQL
·  Experience testing web interfaces, data interfaces and reports
·  Experience setting up and testing in virtualized environments (VMWare, Oracle VirtualBox, HyperV, etc.)
·  Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure) is a plus
·  Strong written and verbal communication skills
·  Strong technical writing skills necessary to produce formal test specifications and test plans (and other documentation as needed)
·  Hands-on experience using test automation tools such as Silk Test, Selenium, etc. is a plus is
·  Experience with testing software deployment packages
·  Experience with different test design methods such as black box testing or grey box testing
·  Hands-on experience using different issue tracking tools such as Visual Studio Work Items is a plus
·  Experience with Agile SDLC methodologies
·  Analytical, complex problem solving, time management, priority allocation and task management skills
·  Strong presentation skills to present test results to individuals and groups
·  Ability to review and interpret requirements documentation;
·  Ability to work independently and as part of a team
·  Approximately 10% travel required
