Job Description

This individual will be part of the team developing the hardware platform for the FPGA prototyping solution at Mentor on the VSD team. He or she will be serve as primary PCB designer for all new VSD hardware team boards, completing placement, routing, tuning, DFM/DFX, final checks, and creation of deliverable outputs. Designs range from simple IO boards to 30+ layer, 300+ watt compute boards. The individual will work with hardware engineers and PCB fab vendors to realize cost effective next generation hardware. He or she will assist hardware engineers to perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis, and release fab and assembly package into the PLM system.

Post-Secondary Degree in Electrical , with 15 years+ experience working on high speed PCB designs. CID Certification is a plus. Knowledge of Signal and Power Integrity (SI/PI) with respect to PCB layout. Understanding of PCB requirements for physical interfaces such as DDR3/4/5, 10G/100G Ethernet, PCIe. Good communication and documentation skills are required to share and communicate work between members of the team and to external customers and vendors.

• Manage Full PCB Design Flow
o Creating PCB stack-ups
o PCB constraints
o Placement
o Routing
o DFx
o Deliverable Creation
• High speed DDRx design
• Power supply layout for FPGAs >100W
• Experience with HDI design including blind/buried vias, and microvias.
• IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and other electronic standards
• Cost effective consumer electronics design
• Minor Schematic Entry Updates
• Lab skills and ability to debug challenging issues is a plus
• Mechanical Design Skills is a plus
