Electromechanical Design Engineer

The Organization

Digital Buildings is an innovative and fast-growing Line of Business in the Energy Management division of Schneider Electric providing cutting-edge IoT solutions & products for the smart buildings of tomorrow. We provide intelligent interface between humans and buildings to bring Comfort, Safety & Efficiency to our customer's lives.

We design and manufacture connected products and services that include the physical products that go in our customers' industrial and commercial buildings that are connected to cloud base SW offers as well as apps. You will be working with agile cross-functional delivery teams that consist of firmware developers, electronics design engineers, mechanical engineers, product architects, and manufacturing/industrial teams.

Role
Mechanical Lead – Electromechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Lead focuses on designing products that are ergonomic, attractive and in line with Schneider Electric brand guidelines. Our Mechanical Engineers demonstrate a passion for designing products that enhances the user experience and represents the Schneider brand/family look across all platforms. You will be part of an agile team working with external vendors on developing living space and plant room solutions such as thermostats, pressure sensors, valve and actuators... This is a great opportunity to expand your design expertise while creating real, customer-focused products that are released worldwide.

Responsibilities
· Drive mechanical design and technical specifications with market needs as well as Schneider Electric Industrial Design guidelines
· Collaborate with E-Cad and HW engineers (internal and external) to ensure fit/form and function
· Collaborate with 3 rd party vendors during Brand Labelling projects and ensure high quality product delivery by reviewing and testing proposed designs
· Work with Test Engineers to ensure mechanical reliability is considered and review test plans and carry out verification tests as needed
· Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIRs) and provide reports to the stakeholders
· Work with Industrial Teams to ensure tooling is developed with critical dimensions in mind, support qualification process as needed
· Participate in agile planning events including Scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
· Collaborate closely with quality and marketing to ensure mechanical specifications meet the expectations of all stakeholders.
· Demonstrate working experience with global teams & ability to align / bring best in class design and simulation process
· Willingness to gain hands-on experience with the products/systems/domain while working on brand labelling projects.

Desired profile



Qualifications :

Skills
·  Minimum of 3 years of Mechanical Product Design experience
·  Experience with living space product design such as thermostats
·  Familiarity with Industrial Design and Ergonomics Principles
·  Creo/Solid Works Experience
·  Design and work experience with plastic design/enclosures
·  Experience working with 3 rd party vendors and also collaborating with cross-functional global teams
·  Demonstrated ability working with GD&T
·  Familiarity (experience preferred) with mechanical simulation tools such as ANSYS & ProMechanica
·  Interest in smart devices, smart home systems and IoT Platforms
·  Interest in understanding environmental sensing mechanisms/processes, and ability to apply this knowledge when developing and executing test plans. Experience testing/characterizing environmental sensors/thermostats is a plus.
·  A professional, proactive attitude with good interpersonal skills
·  Good at oral & written communication in English
Qualifications
·  Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience
·  MS degree/higher education maybe substituted for experience
