Job description

Sanofi's Molecular Oncology Therapeutic Area based in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated PhD level post-doctoral candidate to explore resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies in cancer. The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership and play a pivotal role in the characterization of new and tractable pathways in primary and acquired resistance of tumors to small molecule targeted therapies. The post-doctoral candidate will have an integral role within an established drug discovery team aiming at tackling tumor resistances. This will be a unique opportunity for the candidate to be part of a transversal network of drug discovery researchers and to get close insight to Sanofi drug discovery processes. As the post-doctoral project is linked to small molecule assets, the candidate will see the direct and practical impact emerging from his/her research studies. The post-doctoral candidate will assume the responsibility of presenting the results from his/her projects at scientific meetings and have the opportunity (and obligation) to publish in scientific journals.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

·  Lead research efforts in Sanofi's Molecular-Oncology Therapeutic Area to explore resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies in cancer
·  Characterize cell models harboring primary or secondary resistance to in-house small molecule targeted therapies in in vitro pharmacology studies
·  Evaluate inhibitors in the characterized cell models and look for sensitizing and/or resistance-reverting effects to Sanofi targeted therapies
·  Use and implement multiple state-of-the-art techniques in molecular and cellular biology for the characterization of pathway modulation and compound activity in cells (CRISPR knock-out, siRNA/shRNA-based knock-down, rescue experiments , biomarker modulation, e.g. gene-reporter assay studies, detection of phospho-proteins, multiple phenotypic read-outs)
·  Maintain a working knowledge of current experimental techniques and literature in the field of resistance to targeted therapy as well as in in vitro cell biology tools
·  Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results at lab meetings and share scientific results with the multi-disciplinary project teams.
·  Publish/present findings in peer-reviewed journals/scientific conferences.
·  Be a good team player, open for working in a matrix- and fast-paced pharmaceutical research environment.
·  Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyses.
·  Maintain open and effective communication with manager and other colleagues

Basic Qualifications:

·  PhD in molecular/cell biology with a track record of publications in internationally recognized journals
·  Expertise in cellular pathway modulation, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques (knock-out/knock-down studies)
·  Excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills
·  Strong analytical and organizational skills
·  Curiosity, enthusiasm, and team spirit

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Previous post-doctoral experience is a plus (i.e. a first completed Post-Doc, up to 2 years)
·  Expertise in Oncology is a plus
·  Basic French speaking skills can be helpful but are not mandatory.
