Job description

  Sanofi, an integrated global healthcare leader, discovers, develops and distributes therapeutic solutions focused on patients' needs.
·  Sanofi has core strengths in the field of healthcare with seven growth platforms: diabetes solutions, human vaccines, innovative drugs, consumer healthcare, emerging markets, animal health and the new Genzyme.
·  Sanofi is building a new Research institute, Sanofi-China Institute for Biomedical Research (SCIBR), in Suzhou Industrial Park, China.
·  To further enrich Sanofi R&D pipeline and capture biopharma growth opportunities in China, the SCIBR is charge to research disease biology, validate novel biological targets and discovery/develop therapeutic products.
·  This site will conduct internal research/discovery as well as capture local innovation opportunities through external collaborations, outsourcing and strategic alliances.
·  The institute will operate as a unit with annual budget allocated from Global Research.
·  The Head of the SCIBR will directly report to the Head of Global Research.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with research & drug discovery experience and proven track records in effective operation management to join us in building this new institute.

This position wil Report to Head of China Research Institute Head

JOB PURPOSE:

E ffective operation management in building /maintaining this new institute , Sanofi-China Institute for Biomedical Research (SCIBR), in Suzhou Industrial Park, China , with key Internal and External relationships.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Activities before and during Building Phase , include but not limite d to:

·  Design the building layout that is optimal for future research activities
·  Work with facility staff to build the labs and furnish with scientific instruments, apparatus, bench, electricity, etc.
·  Manage purchasing, installation, and testing of the equipment
·  Work with ITS to establish the right systems that will enable our research activities
·  Manage site budget spending

Activities p ost Building Phase , include but not limited to :

·  C APEX investment, tracking and maintenance
·  Laboratory consumable spending tracking and management
·  Implement and coordinate the Research governance and operations
·  Manag e daily operations of the site
·  Track the progression of Research objectives – a plus
·  Plan, coordinate and manag e local meetings, e.g. leadership team meetings, town halls, offsite, etc. – a plus

Internal and External Interface , includes but not limited to :

·  Manage operation aspects of academic, biotech and CRO collaborations – work closely with BD and iAward
·  Internally, e ffectively interact and communicate with Research staff and business partners (e.g. finance, communication, human resources, legal , ITS , and hub management offices , etc. )
·  Externally, effectively interact and communicate with governments, landlord for all policies and subsidies carrying out, as well as with vendors for event management

JOB-HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Master Degree or Ph.D. in Life Sciences .

MBA is a plus

Experience & knowledge:

·  >3-5 years of working experience in research institute, biotech or pharma with a good understanding of research operations and interface with research institute, biotech and hospitals
·  Experience in handling lab operations, including managing capital equipment and maintenance contracts, projecting lab consumables, etc.
·  Experience in collaborating with multiple business partners, HR, Finance, ITS, Communication, and external partners
·  Experience in building a new research laboratory and/or new site is a plus
