Job description

Responsible for the overall design of the systems and tools developed within the business. Understands and influences
enterprise wide systems to local needs to ensure connectivity and integrity of the data throughout the business processes.
Develops design and functional specifications, produces deliverables related to assigned projects and systems. Balances
the need for access against security and performance requirements. Defines data/information architecture standards,
policies and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and applies accepted
data content standards to technology projects. Facilitates consistent business analysis, data acquisition and access analysis
and design. Possess expertise in the business unit(s) supported, and assists in business process improvements. Translates
strategic requirements into a usable enterprise information architecture, which may include a data model, associated
metamodel, common business vocabulary, ontologies and taxonomies to be used to guide solution development and
achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio. Ensures existing data/information assets are
identified, stewarded and leveraged across the enterprise.

A seasoned professional with wide-ranging experience. Deals with diverse and often times complex issues, where
analysis may require in-depth evaluation of many factors. Exercises judgment in evaluating methods and may
determine criteria for obtaining solutions. May coordinate the activities of other employees. Networks with senior
internal and external personnel in area of expertise as well as some key contacts outside area of expertise.
Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives
through daily actions.

·  KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (required):
·  Gather, analyze and document business and functional requirements. Translate needs of the business, into applicable system design solutions via prototyping and configuration. Set and influence cross-divisional strategies and business processes.
·  Develop, communicate and ensure that internal development and system standards and best practices are being utilized within the department. Establish guidelines and policies to ensure consistency, ease of support, accuracy and protection of data. Document systems and provide regular feedback on project task status to users, peers and management.
·  Understand strategic data needs of the business and translate into system architecture and design. Partner with internal and external departments to improve processes, detail of data, and business applications. Assist in providing estimates of task effort and resource skills needed.
·  Act as team lead for areas of expertise providing guidance to staff including duties of instructing, directing and checking the work of others. Consistently demonstrate Roche Leadership/Mentoring competencies.
·  Build, maintain and enhance business applications and solutions with a focus on maintaining integrity of the business application, data and systems.
·  Guide others in applications & tool development methods and processes, and implementation of those methods through business process analysis and re-engineering. Evaluate development projects and assist in tailoring the development process to meet the project needs.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES (required):

·  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field
·  8+ years related experience with large and complex database management systems, business intelligence tools
·  Analytical, logical problem resolution skills
·  Ability to build, develop, problem solve and recommend technical solutions to address business needs
·  Comprehensive experience analyzing and solving business situations
·  Experience presenting information to diverse audiences including senior leadership
