Principle Roles & Responsibilities / Accountabilities

1. Create, optimize, and modify processes that make positive impact on meeting the agreed-upon project timelines for supply of the bulk drug substance and building blocks. Independently solve technical problems to achieve research goals.

2. Prepare compounds (building blocks, competitor's compounds, metabolites, degradation product, isotope labeled compound, etc.) within the established timeframes. Conduct polymorph screening.

3. Document experimental procedures/results contemporaneously in the notebook and file ancillary data in a systematic manner.

4. Ensure full compliance with site policies and all relevant SOPs.

5. Maintain laboratories in a clean and orderly state:

a.Regularly check lab for chemical safety.

b.Goggle enforcement for chemists actively working on experiments.

c.Hood sash level control.

d.Maintain the proper use of lab equipment.

e.Lab hygiene condition monitoring.

6. Interpret and present data to managers and the team; give presentations to the department.

7. Support patent filing and scientific publication.

8. Attendance at all mandatory training courses.

9. Adherence to quality, quantity, and timelines for all assigned tasks.

10. Adherence to Roche standards, in particular, quality, ethical, health, safety, and environment (SHE), and information security standards.

11. Reproducibility and scalability of experiments and results.

12. Refer to annual individual and team objective setting and actively contributes to goals.

Qualification and Experience

Education/Qualifications

MS and advanced research experience preferred.

Job Required Competencies

2-4 years (for MS). Desirable: Advanced degree in a scientific or relevant discipline (Ph.D. or equivalent).

Awareness/proven experience for safe handling of chemicals, potentially dangerous materials and equipment.

Good scientific or technical knowledge in a specific area (e.g. synthesis, process and analysis).

Adequate knowledge in scientific/technical areas of collaboration.

Proficient with laboratory and/or technical tools.

Adequate knowledge of software and computer tools.

Basic presentation skills and scientific/technical writing skills.

Good Communication skills
