Job description

·  Job facts

At Roche, we believe it's urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients' lives. We are courageous in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigour, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.

As part of the global technical development organization, we are responsible for the research and development of oral dosage forms, at the Roche Basel site. This includes the technical development and optimization of market formulations, the scale-up, development and optimization of the manufacturing processes including transfers to the production sites as well as the development and manufacturing of clinical batches under GMP status. Our responsibilities also include the evaluation and implementation of new drug delivery strategies and manufacturing technologies including process analytical technologies.

You will support the Process Modelling group in Formulation & Process Sciences. The Process Modelling group applies mathematical models based on mechanistic understanding of manufacturing processes of oral dosage forms, to predict intermediates and product quality given the process operating conditions and to scale up the manufacturing process from laboratory to full scale. You will support the group in different scientific working areas, such as:

·
Perform comprehensive literature review

·
Plan, organize and perform experiments independently as well as collaboratively

·
Set up and run simulations of the process by using appropriate mechanistic models available in software of choice

·
Evaluate and compare experimental data with simulation results and propose next steps for experimental and/or modelling work

·
Summarize results and present them clearly and effectively in meetings as well as oral presentations and reports

Who you are:

You are preferably a master student in the subject of Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering and have an interest in computational modelling. Your further profile for this position:

·
Interest in using and sharing your knowledge as part of your Internship in a modern working environment

·
Reliable and accurate working style in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant environment

·
Collaborative and decision-making personality as well as self-sufficient, problem solving-oriented work habits

·
Aptitude for mathematics and basic experience in computer programming (e.g. Matlab, C, gProms) as well as good knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·
Experience in using flow sheeting software (e.g. Aspen Plus, gSolids, gCrystal) and computational fluid dynamics or discrete elements modelling software (e.g. Fluent, Comsol, STAR-CD, OpenFOAM, EDEM, Liggghts) constitutes a plus

·
Proficient in English
