The Position

As a Scientist within our Data & Analytics chapter, you will collaborate with peers within the function and across the organization to develop methodologies and algorithms to generate impactful evidence and insights for our business. You will rely on your advanced analytical skills, and your ability to interact with cross-functional experts to enable us to optimize business performance, solve complex data problems and deliver the insight that helps to define our strategy and enable our organization to reach our patients faster.

We are looking for post-graduates who will build mathematical/statistical models and machine learning algorithms to give insights by combining a profound understanding of Roche business and frontier of academic research.

In this role, you will:

·  Research comprehensive statistical, mathematical and computing science algorithms across business contexts including research, development, commercial, finance and logistics
·  Investigate available tools and technologies in machine learning and deep learning
·  Support collaboration with third parties including academia and industry
·  Publish papers to demonstrate expertise in research areas
·  Support Due Diligence of potential acquisitions

Desired profile

Who you are

You have a Doctor degree with a strong focus on mathematics, statistics or computer science.

As the ideal candidate, you:

·  Are able to solve problems by using machine learning or deep learning techniques
·  Have demonstrated knowledge in mathematical modelling, e.g., Optimizing techniques, Algebra Geometry, ODE/PDE, Stochastic Process etc.
·  Are proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: R, MatLab or Python
·  Preferably have experience of modelling in the area of biomedical sciences or healthcare
·  Preferably bring experience of high-performance computing by using GPU Computing
·  Are a quick learner and passionate about continually adapting your skills and knowledge
·  Preferably have GNU software development experience
·  Are able to work in the interdisciplinary area and you are able to interpret and translate the very abstract and technical approaches to a healthcare and business relevant solution
·  Are a strong team player and you can work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
·  Have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with different teams and parties of the organization, such as business, technical and academic partners. You are fluent in English
