The Advanced Analytics (AA) Team Leader leads a team of data scientists and analysts, and is responsible for providing analytics leadership for advanced analytics projects using a variety of data sources including but not limited to medical device data, electronic medical records, healthcare utilization, institutional and national disease registries. The analyses are conducted to support a portfolio of IVD and CDS solutions being developed by Roche Diagnostics. Working closely with cross-functional team, AA team Leader leads development of modules for analytics-rich decision support solutions, and oversees provision of data analytical services for product lifecycle, medical and commercial teams at Roche Diagnostics and external customers. Through the experience in delivering analytics projects, the AA Team Leader acts as a technical expert and strategic partner for planning and executing advanced analytics activities at DIS.

In this position, you will continuously further develop and improve analyses design, execution, and deployment processes and output quality of analysis results, ensure that they are adhering to industry standards and find novel techniques to improve and re-define industry standards. You will rely on your industry expertise and analytical skills, and couple them with AA and your ability to interact with other medical and technical experts to ensure optimum medical value for DIS decision support solutions and service offerings is realized. In addition, you will maintain and expand knowledge of available data sources and applicable state-of-the-art analysis methodologies in statistical modelling and machine learning, leveraging on variety of statistical analysis frameworks (R, SAS), programming languages (Java, Python) and data processing environments (Hadoop, Spark).

Responsibilities Include:

·  Leads a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts in a dynamic corporate environment
·  Supports and drives development of team's skills and competencies
·  Manages the team administratively, i.e. hiring, setting, monitoring and assessing individual goals, and oversees personal and professional development
·  Plans, develops and oversees execution of analyses supporting Roche IVD and CDS product portfolio, and analytical module development
·  Drives data science approach in agile analytical software development teams and designs and supports development of solutions to support insight generation facilitating successful development, verification and commercialization of diagnostics services & products
·  Maintains and expands knowledge of and access to available and meaningful data sources within and outside Roche, and their application to customer needs
·  Uses and continues to foster strong working relationship with colleagues in product lifecycle teams, medical and scientific affairs, and commercial; and builds a strong network in order to jointly explore vendor relationships, data assets, analytical methodologies and toolsets
·  Performs high quality, timely and accurate analyses using appropriate state-of-the-art methodologies, tools and resources
·  Builds and maintains partnerships with data scientists and analysts, biostatistics, and other key contacts across Roche
·  Responsible for planning and timely delivery of assigned projects

Minimum Skills and Experience:

·  M.S. or advanced degree in data science related field (Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Computer Science, or Outcomes Research); PhD is a plus
·  A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (5 years experience should be industry related).
·  Strong background in healthcare or a related field, either by education or professional experience
·  Expertise R, Python, and/or other programming language/statistical software packages
·  Proven practical experience in applying machine learning techniques to large, diverse data sets
·  Proven practical experience in evaluating, selecting and using state-of-the art analytics technology and architecture patterns
·  Good knowledge of English in a business environment
·  Experience in a team lead or leadership role and a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality team outputs
·  Excellent understanding of state-of-the art analytics frameworks, technology platforms and architectural patterns
·  Detailed understanding of biomedical ontologies and controlled vocabularies in the context of healthcare data analysis
·  Advanced statistical programming skills in R, Python or another analytical language
·  In-depth knowledge of relational database principles and corresponding query language skills (e.g. SQL), experience using big data platforms such as Hadoop (Spark a plus), and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Torch)
·  Experience in applying statistical modelling, machine learning, exploratory, and confirmatory data analysis in mid to large volume data sets
·  Familiarity with regulatory framework and guidelines for pharma/diagnostics products is a plus
·  Excellent communication and collaboration skills (including interpersonal skills to contribute effectively in cross-functional team settings, ability to influence others without authority, ability to build strong collaborative relationships with scientific and non-scientific partners)
·  Strong prioritization, solution-finding skills and attention to detail; Embraces and endorses change.
