Description

Are you an experienced Scientific Glassblower who can work with the R&D community to design and fabricate creative scientific glassware solutions? Can you work from detailed specifications, sketches, verbal instructions and/or blueprints to create your designs? If so, we are looking for you to join us and work in a dynamic R&D environment, manage multiple project simultaneously and collaborate with research teams.

We are seeking someone with the following skills/abilities:

·  Experienced and knowledgeable to perform complex free hand bench work (e.g. constrictions, ring seals, mandrel wound coils, glass-to-metal seals, optical windows).
·  Ability to work borosilicate glass tubing 2mm to 200mm, borosilicate plate and some quartz tubing experience.
·  Construct various types of laboratory apparatus for organic and inorganic chemistry, vacuum technology and pressure applications.
·  Experience and knowledge in the full range of glassblowing tools including torches (bench and hand), lathes, belt sanders, wet saws, lapping wheels, drill presses, sandblasters and annealing ovens.
·  Ability to develop scope and cost estimates for implementing projects.
·  Maintain safe handling and practices associated with chemicals used for glassware.

Qualifications

We believe you are a good fit if, you have:

·  A Degree in Scientific Glass Technology and/or equivalent job related 7-10 years experience.
·  Strong communication skills
·  The ability to learn on the job in a dynamic environment
