Are you looking for a career in Buying? We have a number of Buying Admin Assistant opportunities across our business units. We’re looking for someone who is an optimistic and energised team player, who would embrace the opportunity to be part of the transformation and reinvention of the M&S business? This a great entry level role where you will provide essential administrative support to our Buying teams, you will be involved in updating daily our product lifecycle management system, managing the sample library, raising purchase orders, working with the Buyer and Assistant Buyer to ensure the critical path is met, attending fit sessions to competitive shops so we can deliver our new ranges to our customers

What the role will involve

·  Managing the sample and product management process on a daily basis
·  Support the Assistant Buyer with the co-ordination and development of product Tech Packs to ensure they are delivered complete and on time to minimise sampling lead times
·  Support the Buyer & Assistant Buyer by developing a clear understanding of M&S’ customer, ensuring the segments and demographics needs are understood and put at the heart of the product offer developed
·  Support the Buyer & Assistant Buyer working with Design to interpret and adapt to market trends and direction, ensuring that the conceptual range developed is differentiating and targeted to the needs of the customer through compiling and presenting competitor shops
·  Work with the Assistant Buyer to analyse historical sales in line with trends and design direction to manage product mix parameters including price architecture, colour balance, shape and margin to deliver a highly commercial and balanced range
·  Promote and support the collaboration with Sourcing Offices globally to help develop appropriate supply routes enabling the Department to react to trade.
·  To work with the Buyer & Assistant Buyer to ensure the departmental critical path is met, providing support to the buying and product development process and contributing to the management of the production critical path

The person we’re looking for

·  Has either Buying experience with a major retailer or alternatively experience within a retail environment
·  A passion for Clothing and Home products and desire to learn about our brand and our customer’s
·  Is highly organised with an eye for detail, able to anticipate and manage problems, prioritising and escalating where necessary
·  Has systems experience or can demonstrate they have the ability to learn to use systems quickly
·  Has excellent communication skills; communicating clearly using phone, email etc.
·  Has knowledge of, or strong desire to learn about the end to end Buying process to take responsibility for Critical Path Management
·  Is proactive and a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
