Job Title: Advanced Troubleshooting and Controls Technician  (2nd shift)

Function : Responsible for packaging automation and controls.

FLSA status : Non-Exempt

Division : UP2 Packaging

Supervisor Title:  Technical Manager

 

Job Summary:

Operate as a team member of the UP1 Packaging group, responsible for automation and control systems on the Pacaking floor. This position includes troubleshooting of HMI’s, PLC systems, VFD, electrical, controls, and mechanical issues. Improve RSLogix 5 / 500 / 5000 and other control systems, Ethernet communications networks, HMI equipment, and existing PLC control systems. This Technician must possess good communication skills for interaction with contractors and plant engineering, and must possess demonstrated problem solving techniques. Read and utilize ladder logic programs, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and general blueprints.  The candidate should be familiar with the use of grafcets as a troubleshooting tool.  

 

Job Requirements:

Education: 2 Year minimum of Technical Training

Experience: 5 or more years of industrial or military experience in PLC troubleshooting.

Technician should have a strong electrical background plus demonstrated mechanical knowledge.

Skills:  Working Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC software, including RS Logix 5, 500, and 5000, FactoryTalk, View, PanelBuilder 32, and RSView 32.  Formal Allen Bradley certification desired. 

Essential Physical Requirements:

Position requires bending and climbing, especially up ladders as routine functions of job.  Require stair climbing for multiple flights of stairs.  Also requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

·  Backup PLC and HMI software. Setup and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley, Lenze, Snieder variable frequency motor drives. Troubleshoot and maintain servo motors and drive systems.  Evaluate and monitor performance of plant communication systems.

·  Research and recommend replacement components to avoid obsolesce.  Work with engineering team to create controls to avoid improper modification of programs.  Train team in basic PLC troubleshooting.
