Your Responsibilities

The John Deere Technology Innovation Center in Ames (JDTIC-Ames), located at Research Park on the Iowa State University campus, is seeking a qualified graduate student researcher to join our team.

This role will consist of assisting in research and modeling around current predictive efforts.  

This is a full-time summer position (40 hrs/week), part-time semester position (15-20 hrs/week).

All work will be performed at JDTIC in Research Park.    

Role and Responsibilities

·  Dissect complex predictive models to find improvement areas
·  Review literature on relevant research
·  Develop presentations and communicate results to data analytics team.
·  Engage in active research projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What It Takes

·  Proficient in Python or R programing.
·  Coursework/experience in machine learning and statistics.
·  Pursuing graduate degree in quantitative discipline.
·  Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
·  Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
·  Graduation date of May 2020 or later 
·  Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
·  16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
·  35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester

A strong candidate will also have

·  Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, AWS-CLI)
·  Spark and Scala programing skills
·  Coursework/experience with geospatial analysis
·  Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to document and communicate results.
·  Being able to work autonomously and in a team environment.
·  Good communication skills and enthusiasm to learn new technologies.
