The European Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) of John Deere is part of a global R&D network in Kaiserslautern. Its focus is on the research on and development of future trends and technologies in the area of mobile agricultural and construction machines in close collaboration with diverse research institutes.

 

 

The European Technology Innovation Center is offering a Postgraduate Position/PhD position on the topic

 

“High Definition Weed Management: Implications on Planning, Execution and Efficiency”

 

In this position you will work on a project on site-specific precision weed management. This includes planning, setup and execution of field tests in Europe as well as Customer requirement definitions. Statistical methods will be used to derive results from information gathered. Transfer of results in a viable format is part of this position.

 

The Position is available starting November and limited to 3 years. Work office location is in Kaiserslautern. During agronomic validation of tests, physical presence is necessary over longer time periods close to the field trials.

 

Your profile should include:

·  Above-average master’s degree in agriculture, crop science or similar fields of study qualifying for a PhD
·  Detailed knowledge of agricultural production systems and practices
·  Experienced understanding of machine forms relevant for weed management
·  Good knowledge of customer’s weed management practices
·  Field test experience of sensor-based weed management
·  Capability of maintaining electronical and mechanical systems in the field
·  Experience in questionnaire development, customer interactions and sharing of condensed results
·  Experience in complex functions and simulation
·  Driver license for tractors and cars (B, BE & T)
·  Language: English and one of the following: French/German/Russian
·  Basic MS Office Knowledge
