Vor den Toren Stuttgarts liegt die IBM Research & Development GmbH in Böblingen. Das größte IBM Entwicklungszentrum in Europa bietet rund 1500 Ingenieuren eine Heimat, um moderne Hard- und Software für die Systeme der Zukunft zu entwickeln. Ein Großteil dieser Ingenieure arbeitet an der Weiterentwicklung des IBM Großrechners „IBM Z“, der das Backend vieler namhafter global agierender Konzerne darstellt.

Als AI Software Entwickler innerhalb unseres WLM-AI Teams hast Du die Möglichkeit, am neuesten "cutting edge" Software-Projekt von z/OS zu arbeiten und dabei zu helfen, künstliche Intelligenz in z/OS und damit auf IBM Z System zu bringen. Unser Ziel ist es, die technologische Basis für eine Neuerfindung des Betriebssystems der Großrechner der IBM zu legen.

Wir, das z/OS Team, sind wir für die Entwicklung zentraler Komponenten des IBM Z Betriebssystems wie Workload Manager (WLM), Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) und Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) verantwortlich.
WLM ist ein integraler Bestandteil des Betriebssystems z/OS und steuert den Zugang zu den Betriebsmitteln (z.B. Prozessoren und Speicher), um eine optimale Systemauslastung zu garantieren. Aktuell erweitern wir WLM mit künstlicher Intelligenz, um z.B. Kunden bei Optimierungen von WLM-Konfigurationen zu unterstützen und WLM-Entscheidungen automatisch zur Laufzeit anzupassen.

Unsere Aufgaben umfassen den gesamten Softwareentwicklungszyklus vom Design über die Implementierung bis zum Test, sowohl im WLM-AI Bereich (Programmiersprache hauptsächlich Python) als auch im klassischen WLM-Bereich (Programmiersprache hauptsächlich PLX).
Dabei setzen wir auf moderne Entwicklungskonzepte (z.B. Agile, IBM Design Thinking) und Entwicklungswerkzeuge (z.B. Github, CI/CD Jenkins Pipeline, ISPF, Jupyter Notebook).

Damit wir auch in der Zukunft wegweisende Softwarelösungen anbieten können, legen wir großen Wert auf die Weiterentwicklung unserer Fähigkeiten und kreative Freiräume. Regelmäßige Events wie Hackathons, Konferenzen, Kundenworkshops und Vorträge zu den aktuellen Themen der IT sind zentraler Bestandteil unseres Arbeitsalltags, damit neue Ideen und Techniken in unsere Produkte einfließen sowie die Bedürfnisse unserer Kunden erfüllt werden können.

Zur Verstärkung unseres internationalen Teams suchen wir motivierte, engagierte und erfahrene Mitarbeiter mit fundierten Kenntnissen in der Softwareentwicklung.

Willst Du Teil unseres fortschrittlichen Teams werden? Dann solltest Du ein abgeschlossenes (Bachelor- / Master-) Studium der Informatik (oder einer vergleichbaren technischen Fachrichtung) besitzen, mit den gängigen Softwareentwicklungsmethoden vertraut sein sowie Engagement und Kreativität mitbringen.
