Job description



Job Title: Payments Program Manager

Location: Pune, India

The Payments Services Technology team, based across 10 countries, are responsible for the IT systems that facilitate the payments processing, sanctions screening, and the clearing and settling of all payments via SWIFT and in-country Domestic Payment schemes.

Payment infrastructure allows our customers and clients to move funds freely and fast across the globe, pay their suppliers, credit salaries, pay taxes directly to authorities and transfer money via multiple channels.

Job Summary

·
Programme Management jobs lead change initiation, design and delivery and are ultimately accountable for successful delivery of the programme and ensuring benefits realisation. They operate at an executive level and engage and influence a wide spectrum of stakeholders and partners across HSBC

·
As part of the nextGen transformation, bank is leading a multi-year program to upgrade the core Payments Processing platform to a newer vendor provided platform using Finastra GPP Fusion. As part of the transformation, also looking to API enable the architecture thus going away from monolithic and tightly coupled systems to Mcroservices based loose coupled integration.

·
Influence strategy and shape the programme approach across a series of projects or component activities, building stakeholder buy-in around plans, commitments and changes.

·
Drive programme delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, interdependencies, budget and risks. Lead definition of staffing, responsibilities and schedules in the complex environment of several upstream and downstream dependencies along with core platform dependencies with vendor.

·
Establish effective programme controls and procedures, Report progress, issues, dependencies and risks to steering committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation

·
Drive the adoption of HSBC standards and work in alignment with HSBC methodology at all times. Lead the team to meet performance targets aligned to programme objectives.

·
The role will encompass accountability for finances, application design, development and testing through to production implementation, and support/maintenance in production subsequently.

·
Ensure strong operating environment in collaboration with Payments Operations and various Lines of businesses (LOBs) leading to high quality delivery, faster time-to-market and continual productivity improvements.

·
Building partnership with key vendors to deliver the service levels required and support the transformation.

·
Lead and drive proactive risk management culture

·
Ownership and Accountability in a matrix structure

Qualifications :

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

· 
Own planning and tracking of financial forecasts, resource planning.

· 
Managing budget run-rate to forecast and reporting to Program Management and Payments Delivery Committee (PDC) on regular basis.

· 
Ensure optimal use of resources for attaining financial goals

People Management

· 
Develop and manage high performing team to meet present and future needs

· 
Develop Talent and leadership at all levels including opportunities for growth, stretch roles, global leadership and succession for key/critical roles.

Attract, develop and retain talent across delivery leadership and technical/functional SME

· 
Lead performance management including compensation, vertical/lateral progression and reward & recognition globally.

Delivery and Application Management

· 
Work very closely with the global Program managers to deliver the new core platform across all regions. Deal with country and region specific dependencies and ensure the customization to the core platform are avoided (or kept at critical minimum).

Collaborate with Payments Operations and LOBs for reviewing/prioritizing, planning and on-time and cost effective deliveries of order-book

· 
Demonstrate strong Programme Management skills

· 
Analyse and address/fix delivery issues in a timely manner

· 
Lead and provide direction and guidance as needed to the delivery team

· 
Responsible for business communications to stakeholders and Payments Services (PS) management and any escalations

· 
Active involvement and ownership of Support activities covering stability, efficiency and improvement initiatives

· 
Lead and Manage regional IT Project Management teams and liaise closely with Regional Payments Operations teams for effective program delivery

· 
Effective Management of audit items and their timely and satisfactory closure.

Desired Experience Profile

· 
Strong Technology experience including 13+ years of leadership experience leading large scale programs of transformation and core platform change (3 rd Party Vendor based solution integration in the banking a PLUS) in large technology organisations – preferably in Banking and financial services (Payments exp is a plus)

· 
Strong hands-on Technology expertise to lead the diverse tech delivery teams. Be a go-getter and challenge the status-quo. Strong eye to the detail and experience managing complex stakeholder spread across regions

· 
Experience of delivering large scale Tech programs by driving teams including managers, engineers, designers, large vendor resources etc. across multiple locations and geographies in matrix model (May not have direct responsibility of all of the resources).

· 
Ability to effectively drive and lead change in a global organization like HSBC in terms of scale, size and complexity

· 
Strong knowledge and experience of managing financial, operation, market and regulatory drivers impacting complex and dynamic technology environment

· 
Solid understanding of global technology trends especially and Payments domain

· 
Sound experience of building, leading, developing and retaining high performing teams.

· 
Effective decision-making, influencing, critical thinking and problem solving skills

· 
Strong business and technology acumen, and proven experience in building a vision and developing strategy supporting the vision.

· 
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
