Pulse is looking for a seasoned back-end / AWS Engineer to help us create an exciting new digital product that will change how small businesses operate.

You will be an experienced engineer across the whole stack, with solid skills in web development, and a real passion for back-end JavaScript (e.g NodeJS on AWS, Serverless). You'll want to move fast, but deliver great code using practices like TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD.

You understand JavaScript intimately, with all the pros and cons of the Node ecosystem, and you've got experience with - or a very strong interest in - serverless (and specifically AWS Lambda).

You have solid experience with AWS generally and understand how things are done in a cloud-first environment.

In this role, you will:

Work with your colleagues to produce solid, effective code that brings the product to life.

Develop code on an AWS platform using NodeJS (and other technologies as appropriate)

·
Build out our back end systems in AWS, using Lambda and Serverless Framework, emphasising quality and speed of delivery through CI/CD

·
Work with our Data Science team to integrate their services and transfer data between systems (a strong understanding of SQL and data technologies will help here)

·
Demonstrate quality engineering practices - e.g. Test Driven Development, CI/CD.

·
Thrive in an agile environment; participate in our teams and culture to help make Pulse a great place to work.

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

· 
Share our passion for helping every small business succeed

· 
Comfortable in pre-product market fit stage

· 
Demonstrable experience in some of APIs, AWS, Serverless, NodeJS, DevOps techniques

· 
Ability to work with team mates collaboratively to produce the best designs and solutions to problems.

· 
Desire to up-skill and grow as an engineer, with a hands-on approach

· 
A degree in a CS-literate subject is an advantage but not a prerequisite; we'll consider applicants who can demonstrate deep understanding, regardless of where they gained it.

· 
Previous experience in Fintech or Saas and knowledge of banking and accounting would be beneficial but not essential

The base location for this role is WeWork Waterloo, York Road, London.
