Job description



The job holder will be able to apply their analytical and business management skills to a broad range of problems and retain a commercial mindset when devising solutions. The role is performed with a focus on excellence & attention to detail with an ability to communicate effectively with technology & business management.

The job holder reports jointly to the ITID COO and the Global Head of ITID

· Oversee commercial, financial, and people agendas through functional management of Business Management team members.
· Ensure business performance objectives are robustly managed, understood, tracked and reported across Business Management agendas: Financial and People.
· Identify areas for improvement in the ITID function's global operations in relation to finances and people. Develop and lead the global implementation of solutions to improve the function's operation.
· Support definition of the ITID COO Target Operating Model and design, implementation and adoption of standardized ITID COO services
· Oversee the definition and delivery of the function's global Annual Operating Plan (RTB and CTB) and any interim planning cycles.
· Provide primary support and expertise to Global Head and sub-functions for the following 2 core Business Management areas:
· Commerce and finance (Financial planning; cost management; billing and recharges)
· People (headcount management, Pioneer, Recruitment, Performance Management, Clarity Report etc)
· Maintain a skilled Business Management team capable of providing support and expertise to Global Head and sub-functions across the 2 core Business Management areas.
· Co-ordinate and deliver effective MI to support decision making at key stakeholder meetings

Customers / Stakeholders

· Interface with relevant regions, sub-functions, ITID COO teams in order to understand, manage, analyze, progress and report on Service Management function's business performance accountabilities.
· Build strong relationships with ITID COO teams, using own expertise & experience, adopting a joined up approach, to execute change at pace and with minimum conflict.
· Drive adoption of standardized ITID COO common service proposition across function.
· Global Head of ITID and all L5 Sub Function heads.

Leadership & Teamwork

· Drives a high performance culture through leadership by example.
· Creates, collaborates and contributes to the development of group-wide ITID COO policies and implements these to ensure commonality and consistency of solutions and services.
· Independently performs assignments to achieve stated objectives and resolve non-routine issues without appreciable guidelines from others.
· Leadership of the Business Management global team including succession planning, talent management and performance management.
· Actively contributes to management team, raising awareness and understanding of global policies and processes related to Financial and People agendas.
· Cultivates an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

· Drives transformational change by establishing priorities, actions, milestone and constraints in a logical sequence and checking progress against plans, taking corrective action as required.
· Applies understanding of the business to manage budgets, improve profitability and sustain savings.
· Use professional knowledge to identify and champion new, innovative or improved best practice.
· Understands functional risks in all areas and monitors team adherence to established policies.

Context:

· Function operates Globally with Regional Leadership where applicable.
· ITID COO and Global Head are members of ITID Exco

Major Challenges:

· Managing across geographies, cultures and time-zones delivering quality services within financial targets globally, in each sub-function and in each region.
· Coordinate across all geographies and local culture a cohesive integration of appropriate Business Management activities to present to global head and supporting central ITID functions.
· Manage local pressures to deviate from globally agreed priorities, policies, procedures, tools and processes.
· Manage cost reduction programmes as required
· Making sound decisions and leading through conditions of uncertainty.
· Managing dual functional management

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience

The job holder will not be subject to close supervision so will be expected to exercise initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to success. They will be expected to adopt a flexible approach in terms of working hours and travel to other locations. The job holder receives policy and general guidance but has autonomy and latitude when undertaking the job. They will also be expected to “think outside the box” and respond flexibly, taking decisions in the interest of customer / business needs and service.

Knowledge

o Excellent understanding of one or more of the following:

o HOST financial planning and cost management policy, processes and tools

o HOST shared services, rate setting, billing and cost recovery concepts

o HOST headcount management, Pioneer, recruitment and people performance management

o Understanding of ITID global operating model would be an advantage

o Understanding of ITIL Service Management framework would be an advantage

o For financial planning and cost recovery activities excellent numeracy and MS Excel skills are required

o Understanding of HOST IT project and portfolio taxonomy and interfaces between GPDM, Clarity, and Billing

Experience

o Proven management skills and experience in business performance roles with 5+ years management experience in one or more of the following:

o Large budget ( $100m+) financial planning and cost management across multiple customers, suppliers, cost centres and geographies

o shared services, rate setting, billing and cost recovery across multiple Billable Services and cost centres

o large team (100+) headcount management, recruitment and people performance management

o operational risk and compliance management using Helios; exposure to Internal Audit and/or external regulators; formulation of robust and achievable Management Action Plans; definition and measurement of Key Control Indicators

o Excellent communication, inter-personal and negotiating skills; equal focus on verbal and written communications

o Excellent decision making and problem solving ability

o Experience in managing resources using appropriate communication, delegation and planning skills, preferably in a matrix functional environment

o Strong analytical skills to understand and use metrics to draw conclusions

o Ability to make recommendations to upper management, based both on subjective and objective information – consulting skills

o Accustomed to working with little direction, self-starter, highly organized and able to prioritise multiple concurrent workstreams and challenging deadlines

Qualifications

o Foundation Certificate in ITIL Service Management framework would be preferable

o 5+ years proven and progressive experience within a service oriented and/or management environment

Degree level education or equivalent experience
