Role Summary/Purpose

The Wind Turbine Control Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the wind turbine controls hardware architecture, from the turbine controller, to the I/O (Input / Output) system, the sensors and the turbine communications. You will define the strategy for the design of wind turbine and wind farm control hardware components. You will work with and be part of a talented team of design engineers.
Essential Responsibilities

As the Wind Turbine Control Hardware & Automation Engineer, you will:

·  Be responsible for the architecture of the wind turbine controls hardware, including the controller, the controller I/O, the communication hardware and the wind turbine sensors (temperature, proximity, vibration, etc.) adhering to Renewable Energy Engineering design processes

·  Own certain key control hardware components

·  Lead and support the design, fulfilment and sustaining efforts for controls and communications cabinets for wind turbines and wind offshore sites

·  Define specifications and requirements for sensors and communication systems and cabinets

·  Interface with the wind turbine Control software team, operability teams and other teams as appropriate

·  Represent the Controls team in internal discussions

·  Continuously develop proper engineering documentation, including bills of material, drawings, specifications, manufacturing & field instructions, guidelines, etc

·  Evaluate, select, and apply appropriate technology and components

·  Define test and validation requirements

·  Support and execute lab testing

·  Support suppliers and site teams

·  Support site visits for turbine retrofits and upgrades for wind turbines
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field or equivalent knowledge or experience

·  Significant experience in automation, sensors, communication, electronic or power systems design

·  Experience with industrial automation and communication protocols, such as Profibus, Profinet, CAN, EtherCat, TCP / IP, etc.

·  Experience with technical drawings, documentation and BOM (Bill of Materials) structure

·  Significant experience with controls design and commissioning

·  Hands-on approach, lab testing and troubleshooting experience

·  Creativity and innovation seeking for efficient design solutions to meet customer needs

·  Fluency in English

·  Position requires travelling 15% of the time

·  EU Work Permit
