Role Summary/Purpose
As a post-doctoral Medicinal or Bio Chemist in the bioscience domain, you will gain professional experience and scientific breadth while working within a multidisciplinary team at GE’s state-of-the art research center in Niskayuna, NY. You will apply your synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry skills toward the development of new diagnostic imaging agents and technologies to enable better characterization, diagnosis and monitoring of disease states.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
· Team with other chemists, biologists and imaging physicists to jointly develop new technologies for healthcare applications.
· Execute and improve upon multistep syntheses to produce novel compounds and chelates for evaluation as future MR, PET and CT imaging agents
· Document and communicate the details your work
· Contribute to the generation of new ideas and proposals to internal stakeholders and government funding agencies
· Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Ph.D. in synthetic organic, medicinal chemistry or related discipline with emphasis on experience in multi- step organic synthesis is required.
· Appreciation of medicinal Chemistry principals for the design of pharmaceuticals/injectable agents.
· Applicants are expected to have demonstrated competency in the use of modern separation and analytical techniques including HPLC, LC-MS and NMR spectroscopy.
· Ability to contribute within a collaborative team environment.
· Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. You will need to have valid, on-going authorization to work in the U.S.
· Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
