Role Summary/Purpose
The selected person will work within the Offshore Wind Rotor team in the design & development of pitch system mechanical components (i.e: bearings, gears, brakes/locks, lubrication systems…).
Essential Responsibilities
· Design, calculate and validate mechanical components of Pitch System (bearings, gears, brakes/locks, lubrication systems…) and create and/or review design specifications and drawings
· Provide innovative design solutions to meet requested functionality, timing, cost and reliability targets
· Integrate in the design the inputs/needs coming from other departments like Sourcing, Manufacturing, O&M and EHS
· Support the resolution of non-conformities (NC’s) and the implementation of design changes (EC’s) related to the current design solutions
· Participate in the technological watch, actively promoting both the protection and the development of GE’s intellectual property
Qualifications/Requirements
· Mechanical Engineering Degree with a master in Mechanics or equivalent knowledge or experience
· Significant experience in specification, design, calculation and validation of drive systems related components (i.e: bearings, gears, brakes/locks, lubrication systems…)
· Knowledge of the processes used for manufacturing bearings and gears
· Used to deal with industrial suppliers (national and international)
· Fluent in English (written and spoken)
· Able to travel sporadically (nationally and internationally) to industrial suppliers and/or to wind farms
· EU Work Permit
If contracted in Spain:
Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.
Desired Characteristics
· Experience in wind turbine business
· Fluent in Spanish
· Experience on CAD & CAE computer tools (Unigraphics is preferred), FE calculation tools (Ansys Workbench is preferred), ERP and SAP type applications
· Experience of computer tool development and programming (i.e: Visual Basic or similar)
· Background working in multinational companies
· Knowledge in machine engineering materials, hardening processes and machining methods
· Lubricants and lubrication systems
