Role Summary/Purpose
Structural Engineer in the GT Accessories NU Mechanical team will work on Engineering / design of Gas Turbine & Steam Turbine Accessory systems like GT Inlet system, GT Exhaust system, Enclosures and Ventilation systems and Built to Print (BTP) design. He/ She will plan and execute the project to meet the schedule of deliverable with quality and within allocated resources.
Essential Responsibilities
• Understand project requirements and develop mechanical structural /design including performing analytical studies and hand calculations
• Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, product specifications and O&M manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
• Develop conceptual/preliminary/detailed design. Design of systems and hardware definition for gas turbine Accessories for power plant application including structural supports and ducts.
• Work with drafting team to develop layout and fabrication drawings
• Review fabrication drawings for correctness to GE standards and manufacturability
• Generate project documentation including equipment and arrangement drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Schematics and Datasheets
• Prepare Engineering Specifications/standards & Inspection Procedures
• Review vendor design & documentation
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
• Solve manufacturing non-conformity at assembly level and provide support during installation, commissioning and operation phase
• Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, advanced technologies and systems engineering
• Generate the ideas to simplify system/design
• Design work documentation
Qualifications/Requirements
-Bachelors in civil/structural engineering having with excellent academic record
-Minimum 2 years of engineering experience
- Working Knowledge in FEA analysis using Pro-e/UG/Ansys or equivalent industry
- Knowledge of codes and Standards such as ASME 31.3, ASME BPVC VIII Div 1&2, AISC, IBC, ASME Y 14.5M
-Hands-on experience on STAAD or equivalent structural analysis tool.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to work in teams and achieve targets.
Desired Characteristics
-Advanced Technical degree.
-Gas turbine accessories knowledge.
-Demonstrated understanding of CAD/CAE 3D tools and demonstrated experience to use such tools.
