Role Summary/Purpose

The Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) works within Commercial Operations, reporting to the Commercial Leader. The CAE manages and negotiates technical risk within the bid process. The CAE is responsible for the technical content, technical cost and technical/commercial risk mitigation of customer Request for Quotations medium to high complexity projects.

Essential Responsibilities

The CAE's principal work activities relate to the Inquiry-To-Order phase of the sales opportunities from the Bid/No-bid decision, through the proposal generation and commercial negotiation, to the handoff of the purchase order to the Project Management team for flawless execution.
CAEs use their knowledge of mechanical, controls and/or electrical engineering together with project experience and deep Control System solutions domain knowledge to develop engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost that facilitate total scope project offerings. They produce priced Bills of Material, Compliance Tables and Solution descriptions that meet customers' technical requirements and end-destination technical regulations. In providing their deliverables, CAEs work with other Functions (Sourcing, Sales, Field Applications Engineers, Product Managers, Project Engineers, Service Managers, Commercial Finance) and Customers as required. Tactical commercial guidance for a given RFQ is provided by a Commercial Risk Manager who will facilitate the commercial terms and conditions approval to issue the completed technical and commercial quotes package within the required timescale

·  Work on bid opportunities from moderate to significant complexity, for example involving multiple product lines to ensure technical risks and requirements are addressed

·  Support Technical Sales by reviewing and influencing customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations

·  On occasion, support technical presentations to customers

·  Maintain strong industry intelligence to inform business decision-making.

·  Communicate individual customer requirements for Sales Manager in regards to design and quotation

·  Develop detailed engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost estimates to facilitate total scope project offerings

·  Communicate requirements for order fulfillment to Order-To-Remittance projects operations teams

·  Contribute to regional sales, orders, profitability, and CommOps quality priorities

Perfil buscado

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's/Master degree from an accredited university or college in an appropriate discipline: (Mechanical, Electrical or Controls) is preferred

·  Some experience in a sales engineering role

·  Willingness and ability to travel 20% of the time

·  German language beside fluent English
