Job description



The Payroll Tax Analyst performs payroll accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation of journal entries, and review financial controls in accordance with established policies, procedures and statutory tax filing requirements.  The role reviews monthly reporting and perform analysis of tax and financial information for review by management. These accounting activities are performed with minimal supervision. This individual must have knowledge of accounting principles, financial concepts and utilizes good judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues.

 

Your key responsibilities

· 
Maintains payroll-related general ledger accounts and responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of net pay funding.

· 
Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state, and federal tax returns.

· 
Reconciliation of all tax accounts – federal, state, and local

· 
Investigate and resolve of all levels of tax notices

· 
Advise staff in calculation and reporting tax liabilities when responding to questions and special request from employees and regulatory agencies

· 
Research laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures

· 
Performs a variety of accounting tasks involving preparation and maintenance of financial and related records

· 
Reconciling and maintain payroll and general ledger accounts, remit taxes, review/resolve levies, and garnishments.

· 
Ensure accurate processing of payroll information and data integrity by communicating between Payroll Management and ADP

· 
Create and update reports using ADPR and EY Business Intelligence

· 
Responsible for continuous process improvement as it relates to payroll-related information flow. Challenges existing processes and approaches and provides innovative suggestions that improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and/or customer service.

· 
Utilizes independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues.

·  Assists with special projects as requested.
· 
Demonstrate good judgment and experience in applying concepts and guideline

· 
Understand dependencies that exist with other HR departments

·

Understands the importance of effectively prioritizes assignments to meet scheduled deadlines in accordance with department guidance

Works effectively with others within the department, PSS Center, field APT, and other EY personnel and external parties

Effective with the use of Payroll systems and firm standard technology including Windows, Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, Intranet, Case Management tools/tracker, Call Center tools, Access database, and other PSS related application

· 
Resolves clients’ needs and deliver exceptional client service

· 
Ability to effectively present new implementations and/or system changes

· 
Performs duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision in accordance with policies and procedures

· 
Identify and timely communicate best payroll processing procedures to management

·  Ability to multi-task
·  Work under tight timelines

Education:
· 
Bachelor’s degree with focus in Accounting Principles or equivalent Payroll/ Tax related work experience

·  Experience:
· 
Approximately 5+ years of related Payroll /Tax Accounting processing experience

·  Certification Requirements:
· 
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) highly preferred.
