Job description

The opportunity

EY’s people in more than 150 countries are committed to operating with integrity, quality and professionalism in the provision of audit, tax and transaction advisory services. We strive to help all of our people achieve their professional and personal goals through an inclusive environment that values everyone's contributions, appreciates diversity of thought, fosters growth, and provides continuous opportunities for development. Recognized as one of Canada's top employers, EY continually strives to be a great place to work.

EY’s global alliance of independent law firms cooperate with our offices worldwide to provide our clients with integrated, quality service.  The business immigration specialists at EY LLP work closely with members of EY's Human Capital group, to help companies address the challenges associated with managing today's globally mobile workforce. EY LLP helps companies efficiently relocate people wherever they need them to be, anywhere in the world. The firm's comprehensive range of services-from advising on immigration issues and the use of international agreements in immigration matters, to arranging entry visas, work permits or permanent resident status-makes operating across borders less painful and more cost-effective for employers. And for employees, these services mean less stressful, low-risk cross-border travel.

We are currently seeking an associate lawyer to manage multiple and challenging Canadian business immigration engagements and to contribute to the delivery of solutions and ideas for our diverse clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for teaming, leadership, and career advancement to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

·  Demonstrate a solid understanding of Canadian business immigration law and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.
·  Prepare and submit applications to the Quebec and Federal governments for employment authorizations, permanent residence, citizenship and passport matters.
·  Make submissions to embassies, consulates and visa posts worldwide.
·  Facilitate the legal movement of employees across borders for business travel.
·  Deal with immigration-related issues ranging from expatriate and international corporatetaxation to social security, provincial health insurance and immigrant trusts.
·  Manage law clerks and other client service team members.

Requirements

·  Law degree and licensed to practice law in Quebec (member of the Barreau du Québec)
·  Two to six years of post-call business immigration experience, including Quebec immigration experience.
·  Broad exposure to both Federal and Quebec immigration law.
·  Excellent managerial, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
