The Role: Power Trader and Analyst


Purpose
Risk manage and trade the ERCOT power markets for EEMNA

Location/Department
Houston, TX / ENGIE Energy Marketing North America (“EEMNA”)

Status
Exempt

Essential Job Functions
·  Risk manage short and long term ERCOT transactions and positions originated by EEMNA
·  Provide short-term market making to ENGIE North America retail business
·  Work with origination staff to price and execute plain vanilla and structured transactions. Provide regular pricing updates.
·  Develop and maintain supply-demand models, gather market information and provide insight and analysis into Ercot fundamentals. Produce support material for strategy meetings and clients meetings.
·  Develop and maintain pricing models for the ERCOT forward markets. Under supervision of the senior traders, maintain a daily forward curve of the ERCOT market

Requirements

·  Two to Five years of ERCOT trading and/or analysis experience
·  Excellent analytical skills : ability to develop and maintain analytical models, and to present key information to senior staff and clients.
·  A strong working knowledge of fundamentals of ERCOT transmission grid
·  Clear and effective communicator. Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
·  Can work autonomously and be flexible
·  Proficiency in Excel, VBA

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Could involve some lifting.

Education/Experience

·  A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or similar discipline
·  Two to five years of relevant experience in the ERCOT power market.
