The department

 

The energy transition is more than ever a reality and is extremely demanding for the power system. The change for Power Network Operators, Power Suppliers and Industry is the most important since its origin. Laborelec, as a leading expertise and research centre in electrical power technology, is at the centre of this exciting change and is looking for a Junior or Senior expert profile willing to develop his expertise in the field of Electrical Power Systems with a focus on Power Quality Monitoring (PQM) activities. The work domain will be critical electrical networks in industry, utilities (DSO’s, TSO’s, micro-grid developers) and this, with the goal to grow on a worldwide scale.

 

Your mission

·  You are part of the Expert Team of Power Networks with main focus on the PQM sub-team activities.
·  You perform day-to-day technical activities: power quality supervision for both types of clients (industry and DSO’s), support to industrial clients (immunity watch, incident analysis and reporting …), to external/internal stakeholders (such as Latam team, other departments within the organization, the KAM’s …) for all matters about Power Quality
·  You occasionally manage specific measurement campaigns for industrial clients in case of power quality issues to compile expert analyse and reporting
·  You perform laboratory tests of qualimeters, you develop Matlab routines for the reporting to the clients…
·  You are responsible for the management of the tools used in the team (software update, IT issues reporting and follow-up …).
·  You are responsible for the invoices follow-up, for quotations redaction and for client/vendor relationships.
·  You take part in the growth strategy of our activities by detecting the needs of the market through the several contacts with our existing clients and stakeholders.
·  You ensure the sustainability of the existing technical skills within the team, the acquisition of new competences in accordance with the evolution of your job and you ensure a regular technology watch (benchmarks, standards evolution …).
·  You present annual reports to the clients
·  You give a Power Quality training to the stakeholders on a regular base (once a year maximum)
·  There are opportunities to collaborate sporadically on transversal projects in the field of Power Networks (measurement campaigns, protection relays lab testing, micro-grid lab activities …).

·  You are an industrial or civil engineer (or you have an equivalent technical profile with proven experience) in the field of electricity with at least 4 years of experience.
·  You feel strongly motivated to develop an expertise in electrical power systems with a focus on power quality.Any experience in the field of power quality is a plus. Any experience in the field of high-level IT-architecture as a user (database, cloud, VPN …) as well.
·  You have some competences in EMC, electrical measurements and/or working into a laboratory environment.
·  You have experience and/or the willingness to develop further in programming with Matlab.
·  You have a strong customer focus and you are imbued with assertiveness, team spirit, initiative and autonomy.
·  You are problem solver oriented with the capability of structuring an issue and its resolution
·  You have good communication skills and are able to synthetize a message in a clear way.
·  You are fluent in Dutch and/or in French (with the willingness to develop the other national language) and operational in English (any other languages are a plus).
