The Role: Paralegal I (US Wind)

Purpose
This position is with a leading wind energy project developer with its headquarters located in Santa Barbara, California. Tremendous growth in the wind industry has spurred project development and, as a result, our company has experienced dramatic growth and is looking for the perfect candidate to add to our legal and administrative staff.  The candidate for this position must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to learn and follow processes and protocols set in place to maintain the flow of project development activities. This individual will mainly support the legal team for US Wind Development with other tasks as assigned.

Essential Job Functions
·  Assisting with the preparation of lease and easement contracts upon request
·  Coordinating execution of agreements and tracking and managing entry of the same into databases and spreadsheets
·  Processing, organizing and managing the intake and filing (electronically and in hard copy) of any and all project related agreements, documents and files.
·  Scanning, uploading and organizing agreements, legal documents, files and other information in company’s database.
·  Creating and organizing electronic and hard copy files and folders for various project related agreements and documents.
·  Reviewing contracts for signature and approvals.
·  Backup support for project related data entry in company data bases for contract and project reporting purposes.
·  Backup support for various day-to-day clerical tasks and assignments, such as mass mailings.

Requirements

·  Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
·  Experience with Microsoft Excel.
·  Highly organized.
·  Detail oriented.
·  Capable of managing multiple tasks or assignments simultaneously and efficiently without direct supervision.
·  Team-oriented individual willing to shift focus quickly and efficiently between varying priorities.

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Could involve some lifting.

Education/Experience

·  Minimum of 1 year experience as a paralegal or contract administrator
·  Associates Degree Required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
·  Paralegal training from an ABA-certified program preferred
