Tax Intern –Tysons, VA


DXC Technology is seeking an Intern for our Tax Department.   In a student worker capacity under direct supervision, assists in the research and assessment of business goals, objectives and needs to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.

This is a long-term internship with a requirement to work a minimum 20 hours per week. The intern will be working on various projects in the income tax compliance team.  This experience will give the intern a chance to work in a corporate tax department and experience different job duties within the department in preparation for a career in tax accounting.   You will work alongside and in support of a group of world-class tax professionals.

Essential Job Functions:

·  The position will require collection, analysis and preparation of data necessary to support Tax return positions. This data must then be assembled into a proper response and communicated to the requesting party.
·  The position requires attention to detail. Making copies and developing support files will be part of the duties of this position.
·  Opportunities to assist other Tax areas on special projects will exist and thus allow for additional varied responsibilities.
·  Assists the project team with gathering requirements from a business perspective.
·  Assists in designing and implementing new methods, procedures, and systems (both automated and manual) to improve the processing and flow of information within the company.
·  Assists in creating or updating data/process models in relation to requests from client organizations (both internal and external).

Responsibilities

·  Assists prepare Federal and state returns for C Corps, partnerships, and other entities          
·  Analyze and reconcile general ledger income tax accounts
·  Assist/prepare estimates, extensions, and annual reports
·  Assist/prepare various other analysis and miscellaneous filings for all U.S. entities
·  Respond to state tax notices
·  Contact state authorities as needed
·  Assist in a variety of special projects and research as needed

Other Qualifications

·  Currently working toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or global equivalent)
·  Zero or more years of business-related work experience
·  Basic interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
·  Basic communication skills
·  Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
·  Ability to work in a team environment
·  Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
·  Prior Tax experience is not required, but the candidate must have an interest in Tax
·  Intermediate computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
·  Strong propensity for spreadsheets, systems and processes
·  Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
·  Detailed oriented
