Under general supervision of DDB Supervisor, this position provides support for staff by translating medical disability documents from Spanish to English, receiving and returning phone calls in Spanish and English and gathering information from Spanish speaking disability claimants over the phone and documenting the information in English. This position also provides clerical support for the Operations Section and Unit Supervisor as requested.

Duties

·  Answer Spanish and English phone calls from individuals requesting or providing information about pending disability claims. Transfer to other staff as necessary.
·  Translate written medical documentation for disability from Spanish to English
·  Translate written application forms for disability from Spanish to English
·  Obtain and document treatment information through phone contact with claimants, collaterals and/or medical providers
·  Contact claimants or collateral sources by telephone and complete activities of daily living or work history information
·  Contact medical providers and lay resources to follow up on outstanding evidence
·  Re-request medical and lay evidence from schools, health care professionals, social workers, teachers and parents for disability claims
·  Open, image and electronically receipt incoming mail. Locate unsolicited mail by searching the in-house computer system and image/distribute accordingly.
·  Assemble and verify accuracy and completeness of outgoing letters
·  Assist unit supervisor with other administrative tasks as needed

                       

  Skills:

·  Able to translate Spanish phone calls to English and document those phone calls accurately in English
·  Able to translate written medical documentation or other information from Spanish to English in a timely, accurate manner
·  Able to problem solve independently and work as a team player
·  Detail oriented and accurate (e.g., accurately enter data)
·  Possesses computer aptitude with Windows programs Word and Excel. Working knowledge of computer files, images, scanning preferable. (Will be trained on in-house software.)
·  Ability to enter data in computer and scan cases and documents accurately
·  Able to learn quickly and apply knowledge to perform technical tasks
·  Good communication skills, written and oral, particularly over the phone
·  Ability to maintain confidential information
·  Able to lift and carry at least 10 lbs.
