The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). For Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth within the department Electrical Power Control & Lighting we are looking for a VIE - System Design Responsible - Photonics/Lighting.

Start: 01.01.2020
Duration: 12 months (extension possible)

You will be working as System Design Responsible for lighting systems on transnational projects in the technical design office of Airbus Helicopters. Our mission is to propose and develop new interior and exterior lighting products for helicopter to cover diverse missions and operational needs of our customers based on the latest photonics technologies.
Our installations cover a wide field with the whole range of civil and military helicopters such as H135, H145, H175, H160, Super Puma, NH90, or Tiger and with different favorite configurations (Oil & Gas, VIP, Public Services, Search and Rescue, military).

In this position, your responsibilities will be to:

•Define lighting concepts based on different mission scenarios in collaboration with flight tests leading to system definition and architecture while taking care of customer needs, integration, cost constraints, style issue and product limitations.
•Specify new systems and equipment lead the technical development activities of these systems with international suppliers.
•Analyze the mechanical and electrical integration constraints with dedicated design offices. Perform system tests on helicopter for ground tests and flight tests. Certify the installations.
•Investigate in-service problems to support our customers or perform trouble shooting in the final assembly line.
•Perform lighting equipment tests in photometric laboratory to assess their compliance with performance requirements or assess new technologies.
•Survey state-of-the-art and perform research activities regarding innovative photonics technologies with partner companies to develop future helicopter applications.

You offer

•University degree in electrical engineering or similar
•Solid academic knowledge
•Experience with CATIA and/or Lighttools
•Experience with aerospace standards would be a plus
•English: negotiation level
•German/French desirable
