Poste et missions:

In order to support the ongoing SZC project development there is a requirement to manage interfaces between the SZB Operating Station and SZC development team whilst ensuring SZB’s continued safe generation is not negatively impacted.
To meet this objective, it has been identified that additional SZB resource is required. The appointed Electrical Engineer will have 2 main responsibilities:

1. supporting the day-to-day functions of the SZB operating PowerStation
2. supporting the management of interfaces between the SZC project development and SZB Operating PowerStation.

In this role the appointed person will be imbedded in the SZB team, where they will assist senior members of the sponsoring function deliver core business objectives. The successful candidate will be expected to operate in a cross-disciplinary role taking full ownership of their assigned scope and acquire in-depth knowledge of plant engineering and safety cases. They will also provide support to SZC Project Development by: preparing of SZB input data for design, undertaking surveillance of SZC designs and supporting the resolution of technical issues.

The role will be for a period of 2 years and the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to obtain operational experience, with the SZB sponsoring function, as well as New Nuclear experience with the SZC development team. At the end of the 2-year period it is intended that the appointed person will join the SZC development team but will remain a key point of contact for the SZB team.

The Electrical Engineer principle accountabilities are:

• Have an awareness of the relevant legal, regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements to the candidate’s discipline, ensuring that all activities are carried out with full regard to Site Licence requirements, statutory regulations and Company standards.
• To specify maintenance on their assigned Structure/System/Component (SSC) ensuring costs are optimised and reliability is effective whilst maintaining SSC safety functions.
• An ability to build effective networks, negotiate, and influence effectively towards the achievement of business objectives.
• To maintain and develop knowledge within the candidate’s core discipline whilst cross skilling into other disciplines, taking responsibility for your own training and development.
• When SSC issues are identified, provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshoot activities ensuring robust corrective actions are in place to correct issues and prevent recurrence.
Actively participate in the on-line and outage work planning processes providing engineering technical input as required ensuring prioritisation of work is based on the criticality of equipment and its potential impact on plant performance from safety.
• Provide support to other station functions as required playing a pivotal role in Event recovery and Operational decision making activities.

• Assist and support he the SZB/SZC Interface manager in the interface management process.
• Gather and present information in user friendly format and in accordance the SZC request for information.
• Assist in the review of SZC project deliverables and produce consolidated comment sheets that capture SZB stakeholder comments.

Profil:

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Degree level qualification in engineering or a related discipline.
• Enhanced organisational skills.
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
• General professional qualities as accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy.
• Ability to work independently & collaboratively, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
• An ability to build effective networks, negotiate, and influence effectively towards the achievement of business objectives.
• Good knowledge of engineering procedures.

Desirable

• Background in nuclear power plant operations, engineering or technical and safety disciplines would be an advantage but not essential. Training will, be provided based on existing experience.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. MICE).
• Experience in applying technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
