PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Contribute to implement and maintain a strong control environment:

- At the level of Finance EMEA platform.

- In all European countries / entities under Finance EMEA supervision,

in order to guarantee the high quality of the financial data reported to the Head Office and to local authorities.

- To support the Accounting Controls team in MEA entities.

LOCATION

The position will be located in the Madrid-based Finance EMEA platform. The job holder is expected to sometimes travel to other European or MEA countries.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities of the role

· Acquire a strong knowledge of the accounting control set up quality in the countries placed under your scope.

Detailed responsibilities

Accounting Control Plan :

· Ensure the accounting controls plan defined by Group Finance is properly rolled out and monitored in the countries placed under your coverage.

· Perform on-site audits (travels to be expected) of the controls set-up in the countries under your coverage.

· Report any defects/deficiencies identified in the accounting controls set up of the countries.

· Ensuring Local Finance teams (located in the sites) comply with their control obligations, and that they have fully implemented the Group Accounting Control Plan and all procedures prescribed by Group and CIB Finance.

FACT:

· Ensuring the Fact certification to the region and to HO reflects the actual accounting situation of the entities.

NAC/TAC:

· Attend NACs / TACs and specify/implement relevant controls for all new products and systems, liaising with HO Finance teams when necessary / requested (CIB Accounting Issues, CIB Accounting Controls,…).

· Prepare and propose accounting schemas for new transactions and ensure that accounting schemas used in the region are compliant with Group guidelines.

Recommendations:

· Monitor recommendations proposed and issued by General Inspection / Internal Audit, Regulators and external auditors to CIB Finance teams in the region.

· Ensure these recommendations are being addressed by the regional and local teams in a timely manner.

Operational Risk Incidents:

· Follow up operational risk incidents in the region which involve Finance.

Qualifications :

PERSONAL & TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

·  Control oriented
·  Strong accounting expertise
·  English complete working proficiency
·  Knowledge of the French language would be a plus
·  Team work & communication skills (spoken and written)
·  Willing to travel abroad
·  Rigorous, reliable, well-organized and methodical
·  Strong ability to work under tight deadlines

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· International exposure

· Knowledge of banking and CIB activities and products

· Experience in Financial & Accounting audit would be a plus
