Laboratory Manager specialized in Horticulture and Automated Greenhouses (f/m/d)

 

Bayer’s La Dargoire Research Center, located in Lyon (FR), is dedicated to the identification of new approaches to protect crops against diseases . Favoring multidisciplinary teams of biologists, chemists, biochemists, (eco-)toxicologists and data scientists, our research focuses on c utting-edge technologies .

We are looking for a scientist to support innovation in the field of automated horticulture .

Your role and responsibilities :

 

1. Designing, planning, and overseeing daily activities together with plant production team to support in planta new assays and screening activities.

2. Proactively designing research programs aiming at the improvement of plant production and quality. Scout for optimal crops, varieties and production systems to address key questions from projects teams.

3. Contributing to investment projects targeting the establishment of automated workflows to support plant production, securing plant quality and data quality while optimizing control systems and metadata capture. Monitoring and maintaining infrastructure and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and continuous improvement.

4. Coaching and developing team members, ensuring continuous increase of expertise level. Establishing relevant internal and external collaborations to favor implementation of cutting-edge technologies to support research projects.

5. Contributin to high safety, biosafety and sustainability standards in the team.

 

Your profile :

 

PhD or similar experience in Plant biology, plant physiology, horticulture and plant genetics with at least 3 years of industrial or academic experience. In-depth knowledge of modern horticultural practices and cultivation techniques with a specific focus on the use of controlled environment and greenhouses. Clear track record in managing automated greenhouses combined with understanding about growers’ needs

An experience with image-based phenotyping woudb be helpful.

Data-driven attitude, digital and agile mindset. Ability to organize complex data workflows and to analyze large datasets using appropriate statistical methods.

The successful candidate will be eager to learn and will show an ability to proactively solve complex problems and a strong orientation toward teamwork and collaboration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be needed to leverage the multidisciplinary and multicultural working environment.

You have high standard in verbal & written English.

Good skills in French are an advantage for this role.
