Hybrid Wheat Seeds Production Research Agronomist (1903468) – NE North Dakota

Where the Chemistry Happens…


In regards to hybrid wheat – define, lead and implement production, processing and technology research processes and methodologies within supply that will be executed by Seeds Supply in-country resource.

Identify and recommend opportunities and innovations in the market that can be tested and used to improve/optimize production and processing processes and results

Maintain database and analysis of seed production quality and efficiency

Direct, execute, analyze and report internal and external proficiency testing programs in close cooperation with scientists and other specialists, in order to check if procedures, protocols and working instructions lead to the desired result.

Initiate, manage, lead and document implementation projects, thereby ensuring right attention at right level, proper stakeholder management, transparency about costs, timeline, risks and deliverables as well as adequate knowledge management.

Work with crop / country seed production research teams to support lifecycle management and producibility discussions using data and analytics.

Support seed production sourcing decisions.

Develop standard operation procedures and documentation of new processes and methodologies.

Lead and provide in-country training support for growers and 3rd party multipliers as well as seed production and processing teams.

Work with Business, Finance and Procurement to convert the benefits of the improvement proposals into financial savings and outcomes

Enable new innovations in seed production, processing and quality through research and trialing

Support production, processing and quality excellence capabilities in-country

Collaborate with BASF Crop Protection on solutions (e.g. seed treatment, etc.) that could be developed for parent and commercial seed production

Assess and define seed technology strategies (third party vs. BASF)

Ensure seed production training programs address BASF and local compliance requirements

Implement improvement projects in time and budget

Execute, analyze and report about internal and external proficiency testing programs to check if procedures, protocols and working instructions lead to the desired result.

Formula for Success…


Degree in an agricultural or horticultural related major.

5 years experience in seed business, preferably in seed production.

Working knowledge of seed physiology, seed pathology, seed production

Proven ability to coordinate and manage multi-task projects.

Good communication skills

Technical level analytical and reasoning abilities.

Ability to lead and work in cross-functional teams

Competencies: team player, entrepreneurship, result-oriented
