RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of the role is to provide support to hybrid crops to optimize algorithms for genomic selection and provide statistical support for breeding, trait research and discovery breeding in hybrid crops. The position will also contribute to the development, implementation and operational use of molecular breeding processes by performing data analysis tasks and developing analysis tools with limited supervision.

·  You will contribute to and develop algorithms for the efficient application of genetic markers for the enhancement of our global hybrid breeding programs.
·  You will mine and extract value from an extensive breeding database to support superior decision making in breeding.
·  You will develop tools to enhance our next generation breeding platform.
·  You will work with experienced plant breeders, discovery breeders, software developers, and a high-performance Biometrics team focusing on applying state-of-the-art solutions to maximize genetic gain in hybrid crops.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  You have a Ph.D. degree in statistics or quantitative genetics, or Master degree with broad applied experience in statistical support of breeding programs.
·  You have strong mixed modelling skills with experience using Asreml.
·  You have solid knowledge on application of genomic selection in breeding, practical work experience in plant breeding is a plus.
·  You have expertise in statistical software (R, BGLR), experience in machine learning is a plus.
·  You have a creative and innovative mindset.
·  You have good reporting and communication skills and are fluent in English (working language).
·  You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills and have experience in working in a multicultural environment.
